Today we’d like to introduce you to Maycon Fontoura.
Hi Maycon , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The turning point came when I realized that operating in the Latin American market, where we successfully produced over 10000 live shows and reached more than half a million families, only scratched the surface of what we could achieve. In 2025, I made the bold decision to leave the comfort zone I had built over 20+ years and relocate my family to Georgia to establish WBCI Live.
What I’d tell my younger self is this: “Don’t fear the leap. The biggest regrets come from not trying, not from trying and failing.” When I was younger, I played it safer. Today, I understand that growth lives on the other side of discomfort. Taking the CEO role at 50+ wasn’t about proving something to the world, it was about proving something to myself. The confidence to walk away from what’s secure to build something extraordinary? That only comes from experience, resilience, and understanding that your best work is still ahead of you.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I don’t think the most meaningful journeys ever are.
One of the greatest challenges I’ve faced has been learning how to reinvent myself while staying true to who I am. Every new chapter in life requires humility, adaptability, and the willingness to step outside of your comfort zone.
The entertainment industry is exciting, but it can also be incredibly demanding. Every production involves risk, unexpected obstacles, changing circumstances, and countless moving parts. There have been projects that didn’t unfold as planned, moments of uncertainty, and difficult decisions that tested my resilience as both an entrepreneur and a leader.
Another challenge has been building businesses while remaining present for the people who matter most to me. I’m a father, and my family has always been my greatest source of motivation. Balancing ambition, responsibility, and personal values isn’t always easy, but it has taught me the importance of perspective and purpose.
Professionally, I’ve learned that success is never built overnight. Reputation is earned through consistency, integrity, and the ability to keep moving forward when things don’t go your way. Some of my greatest lessons came from setbacks, not victories.
Looking back, I wouldn’t erase any of those experiences. They strengthened my faith, shaped my leadership style, and taught me that obstacles are not roadblocks—they are opportunities to grow. Success isn’t about having a perfect journey; it’s about continuing to move forward with resilience, gratitude, and purpose.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about WBCI Live?
WBCI Live exists to do one thing: bring families together through world-class live entertainment experiences that leave people feeling inspired, connected, and joyful.
For many years, HK Group has been involved in family entertainment across Latin America, producing and promoting live experiences based on internationally recognized brands and beloved characters. Along the way, we realized there was an opportunity to bring that experience and expertise to the United States.
The American audience is incredibly loyal, discerning, and values quality. Families invest their time and resources in experiences they trust, and that creates both a challenge and an opportunity. We believed there was room for a company that combined operational excellence with genuine care for the audience experience.
WBCI Live was created to meet that need. Our mission is not simply to put shows on stage, but to create meaningful memories for families through high-quality productions. We focus on every detail, rom licensing and production to talent development and audience experience, because we understand that trust is earned one show at a time.
What makes us different is that we bring together decades of experience from HK Group with a long-term vision for the North American market. We are building an organization designed to grow sustainably, invest in people, and continue delivering unforgettable experiences for generations to come.
More than anything, I want readers to understand that entertainment has the power to bring families together. That’s what motivates us every day, and that’s the legacy we hope to build through WBCI Live.
How do you define success?
In 10 years, I envision WBCI Live as the premier family entertainment company in North America—not in terms of size, but in terms of reputation and cultural impact. I want our name to be synonymous with quality, innovation, and experiences that families talk about for decades.
Specifically, I see us: producing 20+ original productions annually across North America; developing talent both domestically and internationally; creating a studio model that allows us to produce content for streaming and broadcast; and building a corporate culture where creatives and business professionals collaborate seamlessly.
But here’s what matters most: I want to build a company that outlasts me. The real legacy isn’t what we achieve in my tenure—it’s creating an institution with values so strong that future leaders will protect and grow it with the same integrity. I want families to choose us not because of who I am, but because of what we stand for. And I want the industry to look at WBCI Live and think, “That’s what responsible, ambitious, family-focused entertainment should look like.”
