Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Whatley.
Hi Rebecca, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I spent my early years in the quaint town of Newnan, Georgia. Living in a small community means knowing everyone around you and creating a sense of familiarity and connection. It’s like a big family where everyone plays a part. Growing up in such an environment had its own charm, but it also had its challenges.
Despite the close-knit community, my childhood was marked by some difficult experiences, including instances of SA ( Sexual Abuse). These incidents significantly altered my perspective on both myself and life. However, amidst the hardships, my grandmother played a crucial role in guiding me. I vividly recall her teaching us the power of prayer. Every night at her house, she led us in prayer, imparting spiritual wisdom and fostering a divine connection with God.
Learning how to pray from my grandmother expanded our understanding of the world. It went beyond the confines of our small town and instilled in us the belief that there’s more to life than meets the eye. This exposure to spirituality and faith became a source of strength for me and my siblings.
Despite the challenges, my grandmother’s teachings opened my eyes to a broader perspective, encouraging me to see beyond my immediate circumstances. As I navigated through my childhood marked by insecurities, anger, and frustration, the lessons from those nightly prayers became a cornerstone in my journey toward self-acceptance and forgiveness. As I progress through life, I find myself embracing self-acceptance and forgiveness, acknowledging the experiences that have shaped me. This ongoing journey has led to my personal growth and a deepening connection with God, which I consider vital. My relationship with God has truly been a lifeline, providing a sense of security and renewal. In His presence, I feel safe and transformed into a new version of myself—old burdens have passed away, and everything is refreshed.
2 corinthians 5:17 is a scripture that became a catalyst for change. This verse shifted my perspective from a state of brokenness to one of restoration, redirecting my focus from the past to the present. Despite the pain of my childhood, I recognize its purpose and accept it as part of my journey. This acceptance has empowered me to become the strong woman I am today.
Music has been a constant passion throughout my entire life. Growing up in the church meant regular choir rehearsals every Wednesday and Saturday. Those moments at church were foundational in weaving music into the fabric of my life.
My journey into music creation started back in fifth grade. I began writing songs and creating a makeshift choir with my cousins. Picture us on the front porch, rehearsing and performing for our neighbors. The joy and therapy that music brought weren’t exclusive to me; my cousins found solace in it too.
As I progressed to sixth and seventh grade, I formed a small group with friends. Together, we explored the realms of puppy love through my songwriting. Soon enough, my lyrics evolved to include expressions of devotion to God, reflecting my personal growth and connection. Writing became an art form through which I could freely express myself, and I fell head over heels for it.
Music, to me, is more than just an art form. It’s a therapeutic journey, a beautiful connection that extends beyond personal boundaries.
Oh, And I love MAKEUP! Blame it on my grandmother, guys! – our Sundays were all about church, and I’d stand there, mesmerized, as she worked her makeup magic. Watching her apply that perfect blush high on her cheekbones, the lipstick routine – it was like witnessing a masterpiece unfold. I’d think, “I want to be just like her.”
Fast forward to sixth grade, and bam, I’m officially in the makeup game. Forget the lip gloss-only days; now I’m rocking the brown liner on the lips with glossy finesse. Red lips? You bet. Makeup wasn’t a cover-up for me; it was my canvas for enhancement. It grew with me, becoming a tool to amplify my natural beauty. Fast forward to now – I even have my own makeup line, complete with an eyeshadow palette that was an absolute blast to create. And guess what? There’s more glam in the pipeline, so stay tuned for the beauty magic!
Ok, Now let’s talk Ministry! I embraced my call to ministry in May 2000, delivering my initial sermon by August 2001. My journey continued at Beulah Heights University, where I pursued leadership and biblical education. Life itself became my ministry teacher, shaping my understanding through hardship.
Initially, the ministry was about doing things, preaching, and serving. Over the years, I’ve realized that ministry is deeply personal—a relationship with God driving the service I offer. I’ve learned to serve people by understanding God’s will, His overall goal, and the profound meaning behind Jesus’ sacrifice.
Through trial and error, I’ve evolved into a more compassionate and loving leader. I’ve come to appreciate that my journey is unique and shouldn’t mirror others. My ministry preaches the importance of maintaining your lane, knowing your grace place, and embracing your authenticity. It took time, but accepting myself freed me from competition and fear, allowing me to be my best self. So, my ministry is rooted in acceptance, encouraging others to embrace their differences and not be afraid to be true to themselves.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been far from smooth—it’s been a bumpy road filled with turbulence and hardship. Each rough patch, every obstacle, has shaped the woman I am today. In those tough moments, I learned valuable lessons—character, self-control, temperance, meekness—and gained wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
I couldn’t avoid or run from those challenges; I had to face them head-on. Ignoring them would only prolong the discomfort, and that wasn’t where I wanted to stay. So, I chose to own my struggles, feel them, and walk through them. I persevered, opting for calmness and growth. Through hardship, I made the conscious decision to evolve.
During a particularly tough season battling congestive heart failure, I heard a clear message from God: “Trials are periodically, but victory is forever.” This became my anchor, my mantra, sustaining me through the “why me” moments. It provided the momentum I needed to keep the faith, assuring me that the tough times were temporary and victory was enduring.
I share this experience in the hope that it encourages anyone facing difficulties. I am a living witness that, even after enduring trials, victory remains a constant. No matter what you’re going through, remember trials are periodically, but victory is forever.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I absolutely love and adore about my city is the way everyone comes together when needed—it’s something special. Our city’s diversity, too, is something I cherish.
Now, when it comes to what I’m not a fan of… Well, my city tends to be quite traditional, stuck in its ways, you know? Sometimes, it feels confining when your thoughts don’t align with the traditional mindset. I’m all about thinking outside the box, but my city, well, it’s a bit more set in its ways.
Yes, sometimes I feel boxed in because of my radical thinking— sometimes that bothers me, but it doesn’t stop me. I’m all about breaking cycles, being unorthodox, and being fearless. My mindset doesn’t always align with the city’s traditional vibe, but things can always change.
