Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Bentley.
Hi Whitney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I studied Business Management with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship at Georgia Southern University before attending law school and building a career in contracts management. While I enjoyed my professional career, I always knew I wanted to build something of my own.
My interest in the salon suite industry began more than a decade ago. Around 2012, I was introduced to the salon suite concept for the first time, and I was immediately fascinated by it. I loved the idea of independent beauty professionals having the freedom to operate their own businesses, build their own brands, and create their own schedules. The concept stayed with me for years.
Around the time I became a mother, my perspective on entrepreneurship changed. Like many working parents, I found myself wanting more ownership over my time and my future. I wanted the flexibility to make decisions for my family without feeling like every aspect of my schedule belonged to someone else. That desire for freedom, flexibility, and ownership became the foundation for what would eventually become Boss Salon Suites.
In 2017, my husband Carlos and I officially registered the Boss Salon Suites name with the Georgia Secretary of State. What started as an idea became a long-term vision that we continued working toward for years. In 2025, that vision finally became reality when we opened our doors in Macon.
Today, Boss Salon Suites is home to a growing community of beauty professionals who are building businesses of their own. Looking back, it’s incredible to see how an idea that first captured my attention years ago eventually evolved into something that now helps other entrepreneurs pursue their dreams as well.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes the journey meaningful.
One of our biggest challenges was simply the amount of time it took to bring the vision to life. We registered Boss Salon Suites in 2017, but we didn’t open until 2025. That’s eight years of believing in a dream that didn’t yet exist and continuing to work toward it even when the finish line wasn’t in sight.
During those years, my husband and I made a lot of intentional sacrifices. We focused on putting ourselves in the strongest financial position possible before moving forward. We paid off debt, paid off our home, paid off vehicles, and often chose long-term goals over short-term gratification. There were vacations we postponed and opportunities we passed on because we were committed to building something bigger.
At the same time, we were balancing full-time careers, raising three children, and managing everyday life. There were many evenings and weekends spent planning, researching, and preparing for a business that was still years away from opening.
Even after opening, there were new challenges. As a new business, we had to build awareness, earn trust, and grow one tenant at a time. But every challenge reinforced something we’ve always believed: success rarely happens overnight. Sometimes the dream takes longer than expected, but persistence, patience, and consistency make all the difference.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change any part of the journey because every challenge helped shape the business we have today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Boss Salon Suites is a luxury salon suite community located in Macon, Georgia, created for beauty professionals who want the freedom to own and operate their own businesses.
We offer private salon suites for hairstylists, barbers, estheticians, lash artists, makeup artists, brow artists, and other beauty entrepreneurs who are ready to take the next step in their careers. Our suites provide the independence of business ownership while offering the professionalism and amenities of a premium salon environment.
What makes Boss Salon Suites unique is that we were built from an entrepreneur’s perspective. Although neither my husband nor I come from the beauty industry, we have always been passionate about entrepreneurship and small business ownership. We designed Boss Salon Suites to be more than a place to work—we wanted it to be a place where entrepreneurs could grow, build confidence, and create lasting businesses.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built. Watching beauty professionals take ownership of their careers, establish their brands, and create opportunities for themselves and their families has been incredibly rewarding.
The name “Boss” represents much more than our brand. It’s a mindset. It’s about confidence, independence, ownership, and believing in your ability to build something of your own.
If there’s one thing I’d like readers to know, it’s that Boss Salon Suites was never just about opening a building—it was about creating opportunities for other entrepreneurs to experience the same freedom and ownership we were seeking ourselves.
What are your plans for the future?
Right now, our primary focus is continuing to strengthen and grow the Boss Salon Suites community in Macon. We want to continue providing an exceptional experience for our tenants while helping them build successful businesses of their own.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about expanding the impact of the Boss Salon Suites brand. While we’re always exploring opportunities for growth, we’re committed to growing intentionally and making sure every step aligns with the vision and culture we’ve worked so hard to create.
We’re also passionate about finding additional ways to support beauty entrepreneurs beyond simply providing salon suites. Whether through education, networking opportunities, business resources, or community-building initiatives, we want to continue helping our tenants succeed both personally and professionally.
Boss Salon Suites was a dream nearly a decade in the making, so it’s exciting to now be focused on growth rather than simply getting started. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but we truly believe we’re just getting started.
