Conversations with the Inspiring Boogie Lov

Today we’d like to introduce you to Boogie Lov.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
DJing kind of came to me. My first shot was about four years ago; it was the Grand Opening for “Authentic Sole” one of the top men shoe boutiques in Atlanta. The owner was searching for a DJ, and I volunteered. Mind you – I didn’t have any equipment, software or laptop at that time. Luckily it was about three or four months out, so it gave me some time to prepare and practice. I purchased a cheap Gemini console with virtual DJ software and an old refurbished Macbook. I wanted to go the cheap route because, if I sucked or wasn’t feeling it at least I knew I didn’t blow all my coins. After that gig people were saying, “I didn’t know you DJ’d.” My response was always Yeaaa, but the real answer was Neither did I.

If you told me, I would be a successful DJ starting out in Atlanta four years ago, I definitely wouldn’t have believed you. Speaking of Atlanta. I’m actually from Fort Washington, Maryland but ATL shaped me.

The thing I love & cherish about Atlanta is that there are a lot of Entrepreneurs that believe in investing and expanding each other.

Has it been a smooth road?
I believe in life there is no such thing as a smooth road maybe a couple of speed bumps here and there though.

Starting out music wasn’t an issue it was more so the technical aspect. Making sure plugs were connected here & there or knowing what buttons to use on the mixer/console. There were times where the audio wouldn’t play, or the laptop wouldn’t connect because of a faulty cable minutes before a show but, somehow the universe was always in my favor.

Lesson Learned!!! Always come prepared with more than enough. Different sets of the same cables/ cords and needles. If you’re not familiar with a particular mixer/console, don’t be afraid to use youtube or even a fellow DJ!

Never forget practice creates confidence!

As a brand, I call myself a Sonic Bender a.k.a. DJ!

I love to intertwine different genres – mixing and sonic fusion together. Spreading Love and Positive Energy!!!

Nothing makes me more proud than the fact that – I didn’t give up!!!

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?

Thanks to my parents they instilled Persistence and Integrity!!!
