Conversations with the Inspiring Cheyenne Grace Watts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Grace Watts.

Cheyenne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in a divorced home as a child which left me emotionally scarred. To overcome my childhood pain, I begin to get involved in the performing arts and public speaking to inspire youth like myself not to let their struggles dictate their future. As a result, I begin to give people hope, inspire them to do the unthinkable, and encourage them to fulfill their divine purpose.

In the year of 2018, I traveled to India to work with a hostel to assist underprivileged youth. This consisted of me teaching them English, life skills, how to strategically plan , and the importance of the performing arts. During my two-months in this country, I began to have vivid dreams and revelations from God about my divine purpose. This is where the birth of CGW Productions Inc. took place.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to entrepreneurship has not been easy. One of the main struggles I faced during my journey is constantly having to overcome adversity. For young women who are aspiring to become an entrepreneur, my advice is not to give up or give in but to give it your all. You may not have the team to help build your dream but you must understand that God gave you the vision so he will supply you with all your needs. Lastly, I also encourage them to research their market to get a better understanding of how their industry operates this will make it easier for them to create a business blueprint.

What should we know about CGW Productions Inc.? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
CGW Productions Inc. stands for Cheyenne Grace Watts Productions, our mission is to break generational curses, loosen chains, and demolish despair through the performing arts for youth to become positive assets to society. My company has three components which focus on international work were we travel globally to work with youth in developing countries, philanthropy events which gives us an opportunity to help individuals in our community whether it’s through workshops, donation drives, speaking engagements, or programming, and lastly our productions this illustrates how the performing arts is instrumental in transforming our generation.

As the modern-day Harriet Tubman, my mission is to free the youth from their childhood struggles so they can pursue their life endeavors. Through our theatrical productions, we tend to decode tv shows, movies, documentaries, music, and more to create an experience that will captivate the youth and create a new generation full of leaders. Each production highlights every work of art such as acting, poetry, different types of dance, and motivational speaking.

Our first inaugural production entitled “The Hope U Give” will be held in Spring 2020. It is based on the renowned movie and book “ The Hate U Give” which illustrates the overarching problem of hate in underprivileged communities. Our production is meant to cultivate everlasting social change, stop gun violence, police brutality, and the sense of stagnation that causes this generation to repeat negative cycles. This theatrical experience will start in the year of 1939 then progress to modern-day issues. Through the transition individuals will be able to visualize how racism and division have created a vicious cycle of hate and violence. Each scene in this theatrical production will encourage youth to be an agent of change and active hope in their community.

Something that sets us apart from our competition is that we are the only production company in Tallahassee, FL that utilizes theatrical productions to help youth turn their pain into power. We have also facilitated philanthropy projects in the Tallahassee community. This includes clothing drives, workshops, feeding the homeless, nursing home visits, and more. Lastly, we have expanded outside of the United States to countries such as India, Ghana, and Haiti to educate, encourage, and empower youth from underserved communities.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
The most important piece of advice that I could give to a young woman just starting her career is to complete the assignment and remain unstoppable. Often times we are faced with trials and tribulations which causes us to forget about the assignment that we were sent here to complete. Do not let your current condition interfere with you accomplishing your vision. You may be depressed, stressed, or discouraged. But you have to find the strength to jump over life hurdles and continue to move forward.
