Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Forrest.
Hi Brandon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began photography and film as a dancer interestingly enough. Well, I still dance professionally. But I found the niche through dance and it grew into a true passion. I always saw my mom with cameras and taking photos on family vacations as well and it would always intrigued me. She gave me and bought me my first cameras that sparked and continued my journey. From there I ran with it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggles and obstacles will be everywhere we go in life it is our way of showing gods strength manifest. I had some of the common artist struggles, such as slow seasons, Not booking work in the beginning, not knowing my niche so forth and so on. Now my new challenges are being a father of 2 and balancing all that I do with family priorities. Its definitely bringing out aspects of myself I favor and don’t favor. But thats all apart of growth we keep the good roots and get rid of the bad ones so the plant can continue to flourish.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I expand my artistry in other areas aside from photography and film such as dance, tattoos, painting, drawing, acting. I spent a good majority of my life dancing, Tattoos came when I was in college needing extra money but using my talents to do so. I still tattoo and work in shops host and attend events where I’m vending my tattoo services. Painting is a peaceful outlet for me to get lost in my own world. Me being a videographer/filmmaker you know I had to get in front of the camera as well, lol. But seriously acting is a growing passion of mine I had since childhood I just never went headstrong with pursuing a career. But now Im expanding myself more as an artist and learning myself deeper everyday to get to my truest self and in the midst I found that I truly want to act on camera more.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
