Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Whalen
Hi Camille, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have served as the UGA AOII Chapter Advisor for the past 4 years. Because of my volunteer role with college students, a lot of families asked me for college student recommendations as babysitters. I would pass the contact information along, and before I knew it, all of my contacts were usually busy when I actually needed to use them myself.
I started this business a little under a year ago in October of 2023. It has now grown to 135 family clients and 80 sitters. We have completed over 1000 babysitting/pet sitting requests.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Worrying that didn’t have enough staffed sitters for families’ needs as we grew was definitely a bump in the road for me. Also, getting the word out about the business and trying to find a good insurance policy that covered this type of business also presented its’ challenges.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in referring a trusted and experienced sitter to take care a family’s children and/or pets. I also personally know most of my sitters or they are referred to me by other current sitters.
I’m known for great communication in setting up sitters for the families, and by providing sitters that want to interact with children and pets.
