Today we’d like to introduce you to Chavers Burse.
Hi Chavers , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started modeling after graduating high school for friends creating content for instagram, then moved on to partnering with local brands in Atlanta. Once I felt like I established myself enough in the creative culture of Atlanta I started seeking management in search of bigger opportunities. I started off aiming high for the top agencies in Atlanta then ended up searching for smaller companies to avoid just being a face on the wall of their establishment. I found Good Genes through a friend and met Rachel who became my agent. Rachel took the time needed to help develop me and get me placed with who I with now. I got my first feel of what I felt like to get paid for modeling in 2022. My first job was in Miami with OGX then I went on shortly after to work for more brands like Lulu Lemon, Fabletics, Nike, Merrell etc. The most exciting part about all of it was being able to travel and meet new people. I’ve been blessed in so many ways through modeling and as long as I’m able to work I will.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve faced challenges along the way but it never broke me. Modeling isn’t as easy as people think. Modeling is more than just standing in front of a camera once you get past a certain point in your career. The amount of time and money you have to invest is what I think will make or break someone in the long run. You never pay to be apart of someone’s agency but you still have to consider investing into your portfolio and your look or travel expenses so you can remain eligible in every market. You definitely have to pay to play
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a multifaceted artist. I’m a professional model but I don’t like to limit myself to one label. I’ve acted before and also started my own clothing brand. This year I just started DJing and had my first gig at Lucky Star. I feel like what has set me apart from others is my ability to adapt, always being open to an idea, and always showing up.
