Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Seymore.

Hi Christian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Christian Seymore. I am from the beautiful Savannah Georgia. I love Savannah so much that I currently close there! A growing city called Pooler Georgia! Art has always been something that I enjoyed as a little girl. I’ve always found myself reading fun stories. I even began to imagine my own simple stories throughout my childhood. My passion for reading and drawing grew stronger from that very moment. Throughout out my teenage years I found myself drawing cartoons of my everyday life. I even created original characters that I one day would hope to see in a cartoon of tv show. In the latter part of my teenage years I finally made the decision to attend the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design. When I first arrived to SCAD I was initially majoring in 2d animation. My first desire was to become a 2d animator to work for Pixar and Walt Disney’s studios. But something in me changed over taking my first animation course. I didn’t want to just drawing beautiful illustrations. I wanted people to feel the narrative story behind my art. As I prayed to God for a right answer that led me to life changing decision. I decided to switch my major to Sequential Art! Looking back from now was the best decision I could’ve ever made! I found myself in a career that I could use my artistic skills to bring visual meaning to children’s literature and media. In my undergraduate years I created my business name C.s creations. My business name is my an abbreviation of my name, Christian Seymore. In my business I specialize in drawing and writing children’s picture books, comic book, and graphic novels. My purpose is to bring creativity, imagination, and life into children’s literature! Every illustration , vibrant colors, distinctive style represents my love for children’s literature. Its not only about the artwork but it about the import narrative lessons and values that align to inspire children. I self published my first children’s picture titled, Choose Your New Friends in October 2024. An activity book designed to spark children’s creativity and imagination. There is more children’ literature to come! As I am now continuing my studies in Grad school at SCAD I will become an professor and impart my love for art into my future students.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has been challenging coming from a single parent household. My mother sacrificed everything for me to attend college. As a second generation child to receive a college degree is a rewarding requirement. I remember all of long nights, all nighters, and constant networking has brought me to where I am.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a children’s author and illustrator based in Pooler, Georgia. I attended the Savannah College of Art and Design earning my BFA in Sequential art. Sequential art is a degree that specializes in visual storytelling telling through comics, graphic novels, and other literature of genres. My artistry is filled with childlike wonder, innovative, warming aesthetic that visualizes important life lessons and values. Life lessons and values such as friendship, kindness, confidence, teamwork, and unity. My audience gets a full package of what a child needs in literature.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I view myself as major risk taker. I put all my faith and trust in God while I applied to Scad during my undergraduate years. I did the work making sure my gpa has correct alongside with sat scores. I took that risk knowing that I may not get in or have the funds to cover my tuition. Moments later the beginning of my dream came true as I was not only accepted to SCAD but awarded a 4 years academic and art scholarship. As a risk taker you must always be your own biggest cheerleader and supporter! You only get one life to live on the earth! You might as well spend it putting faith and all your bets into yourself. One day you’ll never know where that will take you!
