Conversations with Darcy Harris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darcy Harris.

Hi Darcy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The foundation of my story has always been rooted in resilience, creativity, and entrepreneurship. My father was paralyzed in a logging accident before I was born, and watching both of my parents navigate life with strength and self-sufficiency shaped everything about how I move in the world. I learned early that you can rebuild, reinvent, and create something meaningful—no matter the circumstances.

Growing up in a small town in Florida, my exposure to design came through my mother—her love for gardening, sewing, and home décor magazines sparked something in me. I would tear out pages of interiors and fashion and create my own visual world. That instinct—to curate, to style, to tell a story visually—has never left me.

My career began in fashion retail, but I found my true calling when I transitioned into interiors. After working with brands like Pottery Barn, I moved to New York City, where I gained invaluable experience in luxury design environments. That chapter sharpened my eye, elevated my standards, and confirmed that I wanted to build something of my own.

What started as an interior design journey has now evolved into something much larger: a fully curated lifestyle brand that connects fashion, interiors, and lived experiences.

Today, I operate across three distinct but interconnected brands:

* Darcy Harris Design – my interior design and creative direction firm
* Curated Cafe Shop – a curated retail experience for vintage and preloved home décor
* The Walking Boutique – a personal styling and fashion curation service for women redefining their style

Together, they represent how I truly live: curated, intentional, and unapologetically chic.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall, it has never been a straight line—and I wouldn’t want it to be.

Living in New York during 9/11 was a major turning point. It forced me to reassess everything—my environment, my priorities, and my purpose. That season ultimately led me back to Atlanta, where I rebuilt both personally and professionally.

There were years of uncertainty—working full-time while building my business on the side, navigating difficult work environments, and pushing through moments when things didn’t grow as quickly as I wanted. But every challenge refined my standards and clarified what I would—and would not—accept in my business and in my life.

One of the most defining moments was taking a leap of faith and committing fully to myself. That decision required discipline, belief, and consistency—but it also gave me ownership of my narrative.

The past few years, however, have tested me in ways I never could have imagined. In 2023, I lost the love of my life. Then in 2025, I lost my mother. Both losses were devastating and heartbreaking. There were days when grief felt heavier than any business challenge I had ever faced. Losing two of the people who shaped my heart and my future forced me to slow down, reflect, and rediscover who I was becoming in the midst of profound loss.

What those experiences taught me is that reinvention isn’t always born from ambition—sometimes it’s born from survival. Sometimes life asks you to rebuild when you never wanted to. It asks you to find purpose when you’re grieving and strength when you feel depleted.

Today, those experiences influence everything I do. They have given me a deeper sense of empathy, gratitude, and perspective. I don’t just design spaces or style wardrobes—I help women navigate transitions, rediscover their confidence, and create lives that reflect who they are now, not who they used to be.

Because I’ve lived through reinvention myself, I understand that some of the most beautiful chapters of our lives are written after the hardest ones.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Darcy Harris Design has evolved into far more than an interior design firm—it has become a lifestyle and creative direction brand rooted in the belief that how we live, dress, and experience the world should feel intentional and aligned.

Over the years, I’ve embraced my role as a multihyphenate creative. While interior design was my first love, I realized my true gift wasn’t simply designing spaces—it was curating experiences, telling stories, and helping people express themselves through every aspect of their lives. That realization led me to expand beyond traditional interior design and build a collection of brands that reflect my passion for design, fashion, art, and lifestyle.

What sets me apart is my ability to see the full picture. I don’t just design spaces—I design how people live within them. My background in fashion naturally influences my interiors, giving my work a layered, collected, and highly personal feel. Whether I’m styling a room, curating a wardrobe, sourcing vintage pieces, or producing an event, my goal is always the same: to create an experience that feels authentic and elevated.

My signature approach is what I call “Curated Living.”

It includes:

• Interiors that feel like a true extension of who you are

• A balance of modern, vintage, and collected pieces

• Spaces that are both elevated and livable

This philosophy extends into Curated Cafe Shop, where I source and curate vintage and preloved home furnishings and décor that tell a story. It’s not simply retail—it’s about helping clients create homes with meaning, character, and intention.

That same philosophy inspired the creation of The Walking Boutique, my personal styling and wardrobe consulting brand. Through styling, closet edits, personal shopping, and wardrobe curation, I help women refine how they show up through their clothing, confidence, and personal presence.

One of my proudest accomplishments this year was expanding The Walking Boutique beyond styling services and creating the TWB Style Loft, which officially opened in March inside IDEA Gallery in Atlanta. The Style Loft serves as a creative hub where women can experience private styling sessions, wardrobe consultations, curated fashion experiences, and lifestyle events in an intimate and inspiring environment.

The Walking Boutique is continuing to grow with the launch of The Fabric of Style Seminar Series in collaboration with Mood Fabrics Atlanta. Our inaugural seminar, The Fabric of Luxury™, explores how fabric influences quality, style, and the way women shop for fashion. The event brings together my years of experience in fashion, styling, and luxury lifestyle branding while creating a unique educational experience for attendees.

Today, my work exists at the intersection of interiors, fashion, art, and lifestyle. What makes my ecosystem unique is that everything connects.

Your home.

Your wardrobe.

Your lifestyle.

I believe they should all tell the same story and reflect the best version of who you are.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my greatest childhood memories is watching my mother get dressed. She was an incredibly talented seamstress with an impeccable sense of style, and fashion was simply a part of who she was.

I remember watching her carefully select her outfits, coordinate her accessories, and put together looks that always appeared effortless yet intentional. She understood that style wasn’t just about clothing—it was about how you carried yourself and how you expressed your personality without saying a word.

My mother often made beautiful garments for herself, and seeing her creativity come to life through fabric, color, and design fascinated me. Long before I understood fashion as a profession or styling as a business, I was learning the power of presentation, attention to detail, and personal expression simply by watching her.

Looking back, I realize those moments had a profound impact on me. They shaped my appreciation for quality, craftsmanship, and the confidence that comes from feeling good in what you wear. Whether I’m designing an interior, curating a vintage piece, or helping a client refine her wardrobe through The Walking Boutique, I can trace that love of style back to those early memories with my mother.

She taught me that style is personal, timeless, and deeply connected to who we are—and that lesson has stayed with me throughout my life.
