Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Iceberg.
Hi DJ, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from Jamaica Queens, NYC. I moved to atlanta to attend college, Georgia State Univerisity. College is where I got my start as a DJ. My family is off jamaican descendant, so I grew up with a powerful music culture from when I was a child so becoming a DJ felt natural. I was obsessed with mixtapes, radio shows, and how DJs could control the energy of a room or a whole city just by what they played and how they blended it. That curiosity turned into me teaching myself how to DJ, hustling my way into any opportunity I could find and eventually onto Hot 107.9 in atlanta. To date I have spent 14 years on radio both FM and Satellite radio. Djing has also opened many doors for me from national TV looks, being involved with different national tours, syndicated radio, and now producing records.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it has been far from a smooth road, as with most ventures in life, being a dj has come with many struggles, financially, mentally, even physically on the body and mind. Also personally navigating an entrepreneurial path and balancing fatherhood is a struggle but it is a blessing.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Professionally, I’m best known for my work as DJ Iceberg in Atlanta radio and the touring world. I spent over a decade at WHTA as a mixshow coordinator and full‑time mixer, where I programmed mixes, broke new records, and helped shape the sound of the station for listeners across the city and beyond. Earlier in my career, I was a regular DJ for BET’s 106 & Park, which gave me national exposure and taught me how to perform at a high level in a live, fast‑paced environment. Those platforms led to multiple tours, including runs like Legends of the Streets and dates with major artists, where I learned how to read crowds in different regions and translate that into consistent energy night after night.
On the creative side, I’ve stepped into record production and curation, with a syndicated mixshow and multiple producer credits that let me move from just playing records to actually shaping them. My focus now is evolving from simply being a DJ to operating more like an executive and A&R. Using my skills as a producer and navigating this new world of A.I.
What I’m most proud of is the longevity and adaptability. I’ve been able to make an impact in traditional radio, live touring, and now in the emerging space of AI‑driven content and business, while still staying true to the core of why I started: breaking music, connecting with people, and creating moments they remember. What sets me apart is that I’ve lived the full journey—from grinding local gigs to national Radio, TV, and major tours—and now I’m applying that real‑world foundation to build smarter, tech‑forward systems that can grow far beyond my physical presence as a performer.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
i’ve had many mentors and people that have put me in position to win and continue to do so. Nobody gets anywhere in this business alone, and my story is definitely a team effort. On the radio side, program directors, mixshow coordinators, and staff at WHTA believed in me early and gave me the space to grow from a hungry DJ into someone trusted to shape what listeners heard every day. The opportunities I got in Atlanta radio didn’t happen in a vacuum—there were people behind the scenes opening doors, fighting for me in meetings, and making sure my work was seen and heard. Also people like Don Cannon and DJ Drama believed in me very early and positioned me to further my success both as a DJ and a music producer. Outside of titles and job descriptions, I’ve been blessed with friends, family, and a circle of creatives who have pushed me, checked me, and kept me focused when things got quiet, when radio started shifting, and when I had to reinvent myself.
