Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Davis.
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Birchwood started in 2020, right in the middle of COVID. Like so many others, I needed something positive to focus on instead of the fear and uncertainty surrounding us. I began planning events with sanitizing stations, mask stations, and anything else I could do to help people feel comfortable celebrating again.
During that time, I helped create drive-by weddings, baby showers, birthdays, and special moments that reminded people they were still loved, celebrated, and supported even when the world felt upside down.
I slowly built a brand for myself, but everything changed when my son was born. At the time, I was still working a full-time job and decided to take a leap of faith and try making Birchwood my full-time career.
And it worked.
Before long, I was busy almost every weekend.
Then I became pregnant with my daughter, and that’s when business really took off. It was one of the hardest seasons of my life. I was raising a toddler, growing a business, and dealing with a difficult pregnancy that often left me exhausted and sick. But I kept going.
I worked right up until the day my daughter was born and was back creating events just three weeks later.
Today, Birchwood has grown beyond anything I imagined. I have an incredible team helping me, my weekends stay booked, and I’ve had the opportunity to work on major corporate events, concerts, large-scale productions, and celebrations of all kinds.
Looking back, I truly believe every challenge played a role in getting me here. COVID taught me resilience. Motherhood taught me determination. The difficult seasons taught me perseverance. Every obstacle shaped me into the business owner, wife, mother, and person I am today.
Birchwood is so much more than balloons, backdrops, and beautiful events. It’s proof that sometimes the hardest seasons of life can become the foundation for something incredible.
And for that, I will always be grateful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
None of it has been easy. There have been countless nights where I haven’t slept at all. Weekends spent working around the clock, planning multiple events at once, making balloon garlands late into the night, answering messages, creating mockups, loading trailers, and making sure every last detail was perfect for my clients.
There were seasons when I questioned whether I could keep up with it all. Balancing motherhood, marriage, family life, and a growing business often felt impossible.
While those sleepless weekends are much more rare now, I’ve learned something incredibly valuable over the years: how to manage my time, trust my team, and work at a pace that allows me to be present for both my clients and my family.
Success didn’t happen overnight. It was built through long days, late nights, sacrifices, faith, and a whole lot of determination.
What I’m most proud of isn’t how much Birchwood has grown. It’s that I’ve built a business that allows me to create beautiful celebrations while still being present for the people who matter most.
Because at the end of the day, the reason I work so hard is them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a full-service event planner and coordinator. While I have planned and coordinated weddings, I’ve realized that my heart truly lies in celebrating life’s other milestones.
Birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, grand openings, corporate events, fundraisers, and everything in between.
From full tablescapes and charcuterie displays to balloon garlands, custom backdrops, signage, florals, and event coordination, I love bringing every detail together to create an experience that feels thoughtful, seamless, and memorable.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just decorate an event—I help create it from start to finish.
I genuinely care about the people behind the celebration. I want every client to feel heard, understood, and excited throughout the planning process. I treat every event as if it were my own, paying attention to the little details that others may overlook.
I’m not interested in simply dropping off decorations and leaving. I want to help create moments that people remember years later. The look on a mother’s face at her baby’s first birthday, the excitement of a bride at her shower, the pride of a business owner at their grand opening, or the joy of a family gathering together to celebrate—that’s what drives me.
Anyone can buy balloons or rent decor. What makes Birchwood different is the experience, the personal connection, and the dedication behind every event.
My goal has always been simple: handle the details so my clients can enjoy the celebration.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising about me is that I rarely sit still.
If I’m not planning an event, I’m dreaming up the next one, reorganizing inventory, creating mockups, baking sourdough, playing with my kids, or working on a new idea for Birchwood. My mind is always creating something.
