Today we’d like to introduce you to Imani Shipman

Hi Imani, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a kid growing up I always been good at angles. If you hand me your phone to snap a quick photo I will take my sweet time until it’s perfect or the way I want it. After i give the phone back I use to see the look in people eyes and smiling and shouting excitedly and it made me want a real camera. As I got older I begged my mom for my first camera at the age of 18 and she ended up buying me my first camera which was a Nikon to start off with, I practiced with my siblings around the house, bought equipment online to practice with as far as props. Also I use to walk around the neighborhood and offer free photoshoots and once I did that I got my name out there, It came to a point where people would ask me to return back which I did. I ended up getting paid I took it more serious and I ended up upgrading my camera, making flyers, networking, posting on social media and from there my dream became a reality I ended up renting out my own studio and now today my name are in a lot of rooms and not only I am just a photographer but I am a traveling photographer as well I’m known for doing indoor and outdoor and traveling across the world. My goal is to be a celebrity photographer one day, So far I got booked for different celebrities in the past months ago and it was an great experience. I am very grateful and no it is not easy you just have to stay consistent and always pray when you find yourself getting discouraged.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, It was times where I will take breaks because I’ll find myself getting discouraged or feel like giving up if I got bad feedback but then I had to realize it was only the beginning for me and I can’t please everyone and I can’t let one person stop my show. You have to still push through because it will be more pressure in the future so you have to be prepared for it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Photographer. I take indoor and outdoor pictures and also travel to take pictures. My business name is lexframedit my middle name is Alexis so I go by “Lex”. I am most proud of me making it this far and to see my growth. What set me apart from others is that I have my own mind and I’m different.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see my industry taking off I see me living in a different state and traveling more and networking and getting next to my favorite artists.
