Conversations with Jason Ingram

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Ingram.

Jason, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Forever Fed was founded in 2010 by a group of like-minded individuals who shared a heart for serving the community through food support. At the time, our 432-square-mile county lacked adequate public transportation, creating a significant barrier for families in need to access food assistance from existing agencies. We quickly realized that the most effective way to serve these underserved families was to bring food directly to them.

In August 2010, after much prayer and with the support of an incredible group of community leaders, Forever Fed—a mobile food ministry—was born. Since our inception, God has faithfully transformed and grown this ministry. What began as a prepared-meal outreach has evolved into a mobile food pantry, now distributing hundreds of thousands of pounds of groceries each year to families across our community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not always been smooth. Like most nonprofits, Forever Fed has experienced its share of ups and downs over the years. Along the way, we have been incredibly blessed with strong partners such as the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Publix, Sam’s Club, Costco, Sprouts, Aldi, Walmart, and Target, as well as the many churches, volunteers, donors, and—most importantly—our army of prayer warriors.

These partnerships have been instrumental in helping Forever Fed follow God’s plan for this ministry. Time and again, when food supplies were tight, finances were lean, or the needs of the community felt overwhelming, God provided exactly what was needed at exactly the right time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Forever Fed exists to reach underserved families with nutritious food support, especially those facing hunger compounded by a lack of transportation. While food insecurity affects every type of neighborhood, it is often most isolating for individuals and families who simply cannot get to where help is offered. Our work is built around meeting people where they are—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

The need is significant. Hunger and hopelessness exist all around us, and Georgia currently ranks among the highest states in the nation for household food insecurity. Economic pressures, unemployment, and underemployment have caused food scarcity to touch families across all communities. At Forever Fed, we believe caring for our neighbors is not optional—it is an act of obedience rooted in Christ’s command to love God and love our neighbor (Luke 10:26–28).

Our solution is simple but intentional: we provide grocery support to underserved communities with food, encouragement, and unconditional love. We believe we can ease the burden of food instability by offering nutritious, desirable foods, while also building a community of compassion by engaging God’s people with purpose and consistency. We serve every individual with dignity, without discrimination or barriers, and we never require identification, limit visits, or restrict access based on where someone lives.

What truly sets Forever Fed apart is how we serve. Each month, we distribute more than 60,000 pounds of food to over 1,000 families through three core programs. Our most well-known program is our seven monthly self-select mobile pantry events held across three locations. These drive-thru pantries allow guests to choose the foods their families want and need, while volunteers handle the shopping and loading. On a typical Tuesday, we serve approximately 150 families in about one hour.

We also operate a weekend bag program in partnership with three local elementary schools, providing 700 food bags each month to students facing food insecurity outside of school hours. Each bag includes multiple dinners, lunches, breakfasts, and snacks to help sustain children over the weekend.

Our smallest—but most challenging—program is our food delivery ministry. We are one of the only pantries in Cherokee County that delivers food directly to individuals who lack transportation and are unable to attend any pantry, including ours.

At its core, Forever Fed is about more than food. We strive to be the hands and feet of Christ to those who are often overlooked, forgotten, or invisible to mainstream society. When trust is built and relationships are formed, we earn the privilege—never the assumption—of sharing our faith.

Personally, I am incredibly blessed to be part of Forever Fed. At times I may serve as the voice or the public face of the organization, but I am not Forever Fed. My greatest joy is witnessing the hundreds of people God has brought together to be Forever Fed—individuals who may not know one another, yet willingly set aside their own needs to serve and love complete strangers in moments of vulnerability. That community, united in compassion and purpose, is what I am most proud of.
