Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamal & Susan Dorsainville.
Hi Kamal & Susan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Here is our Bio – Susan and Kamal Dorsainville are not just business owners — they are builders of vision, culture, and opportunity, guided every step of the way by their faith in God.
Long before they stepped into the world of coffee, the couple established themselves as a powerful force in marketing, media, and production through their company, Total Media Group Inc. (TMG). With decades of combined experience, they built a reputation for bringing ideas to life — from concept to execution — specializing in branding, event production, celebrity collaboration and media development, particularly within the beauty industry.
TMG became known for its ability to connect brands to audiences in meaningful ways, producing everything from magazines and marketing campaigns to large-scale events. Their expertise spans casting, creative direction, videography, photography, editing, and design, as well as conducting focus groups for R&D — all rooted in a commitment to excellence and innovation.
But behind the success of the business is something deeper. Their faith in God has always been the foundation.
Susan, originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, stepped out on faith when she moved to New York City over 30 years ago, determined to create opportunities not just for herself, but for others. Through persistence, vision, and trust in God, she built a path that would eventually lead her to entrepreneurship and leadership.
Kamal, born and raised in Baldwin, New York by way of Brooklyn, brought a natural entrepreneurial spirit and a sharp marketing mind. What started as individual journeys became a shared purpose when their paths aligned. Together, they built not only a company, but a partnership grounded in faith, resilience, and vision.
Through Total Media Group, they have worked with major brands, developed impactful campaigns, and created experiences that resonate. But for Susan and Kamal, entrepreneurship has never been about staying comfortable — it’s about growth, obedience, and being willing to follow where God leads.
That journey led them to Georgia, where they expanded their vision into something more personal and community-driven — SDK’S Café & Coffee.
What started as a coffee shop quickly became something bigger.
A gathering place.
A brand.
An experience.
Known for their authentic New York bagels and elevated coffee offerings, SDK’S isn’t just about food — it’s about connection. It’s where their background in branding, customer experience, and storytelling comes to life daily, creating an atmosphere where people feel welcomed, valued, and inspired.
And they’re just getting started.
With a vision to expand beyond one location, Susan and Kamal are building SDK’S into a multi-location brand—a growing coffee shop empire—all while staying grounded in the same principle that started it all:
God is the CEO. They are simply the stewards of the vision.
Their story is more than business—it’s a testament to what can happen when faith meets action, and purpose meets perseverance.
Some of the brands they touched – Seagram’s Products, Proctor & Gamble, African Pride. Soft Sheen, Bumble & Bumble, Dark & Lovely, Rogaine, AOL, Tesla, Kiss Products, Kiss Colors, IEnvy, Red Pro Products, Kiss Cosmetics. Shake N Go, Model Model, Amekor – Vivica Fox Collection, Bronner Bros Show
Some of the celebs with which they collaborated – Bow Wow (Shad Moss), Keisha Cole, JT, Saweetie, Lil Mama, Angela Simmons,
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship has never been a smooth road for us. There are seasons where it feels like everything is flowing, and then there are seasons that feel like a roller coaster. And the truth is, when you’re committed to growth, that roller coaster always comes back around. One of the biggest challenges has been finances. As entrepreneurs, you’re constantly investing into new ideas, new opportunities, and new levels—and not everything works the way you expect it to. That can be tough. But those moments teach you resilience, discipline, and how to keep moving forward even when things don’t go as planned.
Through it all, we’ve learned the importance of staying motivated, being willing to pivot, and not giving up on the vision. Our faith has also played a major role—trusting God in the uncertain seasons, knowing that every challenge has purpose, and that we’re being guided even when we don’t have all the answers.
We also believe strongly in having mentorship. There’s real value in learning from people who have already walked the path (not that we always listened, because sometimes you just think you know what’s best). But often it can save you time, money, and unnecessary setbacks.
Entrepreneurship isn’t easy—but if you stay grounded, stay resilient, and stay open to learning, it can be worth the journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Let’s start with What sets TMG apart from the competition? We have a level of commitment to getting the job done that we sometimes feel like is unmatched. We go above and beyond for even the most minute task. That’s just who we are as people. The challenge is that we set ourselves up so that companies want to hire Susan and Kamal (not just TMG), so no matter the task they expect to see our faces in the place to make it happen. That may not have been the best strategy over the years and we are trying to change that as we build this coffee shop brand, but we have already but ourselves in a position that customers look for us when they come in the door. We are working on changing that narrative.
Things that set us apart.
• Our Performance Standards & Client Relationship
Management
• Commitment & Dedication to Service Excellence
• Results Oriented Philosophy
• Hands-On Experience & Forward Thinking
At our core, we specialize in taking ideas and turning them into real, revenue-generating experiences.
Through Total Media Group Inc., our background is in marketing, media, and production—but more specifically, we’ve built our expertise around understanding how to position a brand so it actually connects with people. In the beauty industry, that meant producing magazines, creating campaigns, and executing events that didn’t just look good, but drove engagement and sales. We’ve always been hands-on in every part of the process—from creative direction to execution—so we understand what it takes to bring a vision to life from start to finish.
What’s unique is that we didn’t stop there—we applied everything we’ve learned to build something of our own.
With SDK’S Café & Coffee, we shifted from building brands for others to building a brand we live in every day. That’s where our skillset really shows up differently. We’re not just thinking about marketing in theory—we’re testing it in real time. From pricing and product development to customer experience and in-store sales strategy, we’re constantly refining what works and what doesn’t. That level of hands-on experience is something you can’t fake—it’s earned through being in it every day.
What we’re most proud of is our ability to keep going, even when things don’t work the first time. A lot of people see the finished product, but they don’t see the trial and error behind it—the ideas that didn’t land, the adjustments we had to make, the lessons learned along the way. Every challenge has sharpened us.
A little about SDK’S. The Brand quickly became famous for its NY Bagels. Baked and shipped directly from NY. That is the only way we can claim that we are an authentic NY Bagel Shop. You gotta have the NY water for it to be a true NY Bagel. New Yorkers crowd in everyday to get that little slice of home. Our breakfast sandwiches or bagel lox brings them right back to the Bodega or Deli they frequented in NY and they love it. I must say the GA natives have fallen in love with a good NY bagel also. Our goal was to bring NY to GA with us and we are happy to say we have accomplished that goal!
What truly sets us apart is that we understand both sides—we know how to create a brand, and we know how to operate one. A lot of people are strong in one area, but we’ve had to develop both. And through it all, our faith has kept us grounded. We don’t just move off trends—we move with purpose, trusting that every step, even the difficult ones, is part of a bigger plan.
At the end of the day, we’re not chasing quick wins—we’re building something that lasts.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to us is walking in purpose and being aligned with what God has called us to do.
Everything we’ve built—whether it’s through Total Media Group or SDK’S Café & Coffee—comes from that foundation. Success, in our eyes, isn’t just about revenue or growth (although we do need to pay the bills…lol), it’s about obedience, impact, and stewardship. We believe that what we have isn’t just for us—it’s something we’ve been entrusted with, and it’s our responsibility to manage it well. Although really hard at times we are doin our best to keep the train moving.
Family also matters deeply to us. Being able to build together as husband and wife, support each other through the highs and lows, and create something that has meaning beyond just business—that’s important.
We also care about the people we serve. Whether it’s a client, a customer walking into the café, or someone we connect with through our work/walk—we want them to feel the intention behind what we do. That’s why we focus so much on experience, not just product.
At the end of the day, what matters most is that we’re not just building businesses—we’re building something that reflects our values, honors God, and leaves a lasting impact.
