Conversations with Kierstin Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kierstin Taylor.

Kierstin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, I’m Kierstin Taylor. I’m a native of Macon, Ga & owner of KD Kier Designs. I have a Bachelors degree in Graphic Communication & a Minor in Packaging. I studied at Pittsburgh State University in Pittsburg, KS. I’ve been a graphic designer for 5+ years now & I’ve come so far as an entrepreneur in my industry. I started off creating my business during Covid not knowing how it would flow offering limited services at a low rate. After continuing to stay committed, I now offer a variety of design services structured to align my clients startup business for their marketing graphics.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A struggle I encountered was realizing I needed to expand my skillset throughout the years through different software tools. Getting a mentor to help me understand how much time goes into creating a logo that’s original, along with providing the accurate files needed for it was an addition. Even though I have a degree in Graphic Communication, I still have to continue being educated about my field. Being a graphic designer takes memorization of different softwares, building creative layouts for websites, and understanding your clients audience for their brand platform.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I offer a variety of services structured to align my clients startup business for their marketing graphics.

Areas that I offer with KD include branding, photography, voice overs & makeup for my clients. I’ve worked with many local start up brands providing full branding from their logos to websites & prints. I’ve also worked with Alist celebrities on their branding needs too. I strive to make sure my clients have access to strong categories within their business for their branding needs.

I’ve recently branched out into now offering illustrations within my business. KDIllustrationsss is a look into my view of black girl art. I’m known for having 3xl long nails that are a part of my creative personality. I create nail art visuals of myself that I turn into poster illustrations. I pride myself on being a moodboard for your wall art.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The best thing I like about my city is it’s location and diversity. Macon is located in the heart of central GA. What I like least about my city is that we don’t have a lot of networking opportunities for graphic designers to get together and express themselves. Because of this I started a coworking community to meet with like minded creatives.
