Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyla Minotti.
Hi Kyla, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been a very creative and super ambitious child. From playing in make up at 3 thinking I was a princess to being 6 thinking I’ll be a pop star like Brittany spears. I loved dance, I loved theatre , I love art. I knew I wanted to be a star I knew I wanted to be someone big! I dreamed BIG always have and always will. Before music came into my life as my career path I used to model. Modeling was a thing people pushed on to me my entire life being young I was told to go on “ Americas next top model “ I was always asked did I do modeling professionally until one day I got discovered in a chipotle in my hometown in Baltimore by a very nice photographer who then brought me into that world of modeling. Sooner than later I moved to ATL and began modeling professionally. I also got into video modeling for celebrities and got with management then from there things went a bit stagnant for me I decided modeling wasn’t my ultimate passion. No matter how many shoots or videos I did? I knew I had more fun and enjoyment out of CREATING my own work. I’ve had distractions from relationships, family, friends plenty situations that have caused set backs and me losing focus at times but I believe things happen for a reason they make us who we are and timing is always of the essence. One of my favorite skills I carry would be my culinary skills. Being a creative makes creating dishes so much more fun and tends to be very therapeutic for me. I’ve learned to use my creative skills and turn them into a way to hustle and provide for myself. Whether it be getting paid for a verse, Doing paintings, Creating custom clothing pieces , A nail appointment, selling food. I make it happen. So here I am today making my own music independently living in Atlanta being the dope creative that I am lol.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. It’s never a smooth road when you’re trying to make it to the top it can get lonely and cold but you have got to believe everything will work out! Or it won’t. It’s been struggles along the way for me and it’ll be more I’m sure. I just gotta keep pushing and moving forward.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make music. I model, I draw, paint. I sculpt, I create clothes. I do make up. I do nails (professional nail artist). Hair styling, creative direction & I cook. I do all arts and crafts
I love creating and feeling free. In my mind I let my art speak for itself in all aspects. I’m very proud of my first music project it’s titled “SALT” I chose to use the title salt because my entire life I feel people have thought I was sweet like sugar and they could use my kindness for weakness not realizing the heart I carry. I am SALT. which is just another form of writing and being artistic again for me. These are the things I love the things that make me different. My mind, my aura , my style my energy. I believe I truly am a 1 of 1 and that is how I carry myself humbly on a daily.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I am unsigned. I have no management. No label . I have no TEAM. I have absolutely no one behind me BUT myself and that’s how I’m making it happen.
