Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Griffin.
Hi Lacey , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always been a creative soul. Even as a kid, I was painting and drawing. I had a wild imagination and embraced it. Inheriting my late mother’s talents helped boost the process of growing as an artist. I inherited the love of working with wood from my dad. They did craft shows back in the day, what we now call vendor events. My dad would do the wood working and my mom would do the painting. Truly the cutest artsy duo. Their artistry has inspired me to become the creative I am today.
I never thought starting a business based on my art could be a thing until I experienced a traumatic loss in 2020. Losing Arlo to veterinarian malpractice opened a spectrum of emotion that sparked a fire in my soul. In February of 2021, I decided to channel everything I was feeling into chasing a dream and building a business in honor of Arlo and his siblings (&Co.)
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my best friend and husband, Allen, who selflessly helps me reach for the stars. I have come so far and achieved more than I ever expected to. From painting in my dining room to a full functioning work shop on our property to being in storefronts. The growth is so surreal. My family and friends have also supported me from day one.
Being a part of the small business community has opened up so many connections and relationships I will cherish forever. I have found myself surrounded by talented, extremely creative, hardworking and let’s be real, BADA$$ female hustlers. Witnessing women from all backgrounds reach and chase their dreams has inspired me to keep chasing mine.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This road so far has not been smooth. My journey has been bumpy, curvy and off road riding. I have struggled with learning curves with techniques and machinery, the typical small business take down attempts and battling myself within. I will say the best thing you can do is surround yourself with people who will wipe out your inventory when you arrive to a get together after you’ve worked an event. It’s people like that who believe in you and support you so hard you have no choice but to succeed.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in laser engraving/cutting, hand painting and design. I think I am most known for my branding. I have unknowingly created a brand that people have come to recognize. I am most proud of not giving up when it felt like I had no other choice. I kept going. I think my creative vision and style is what sets me apart. I’ve always said anyone can buy a machine but they can’t buy my vision.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel my determination and drive to continue evolving my craft has led me to a road to success.
