Conversations with LaRhonda Celestin

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaRhonda Celestin.

LaRhonda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey in fashion started long before I had the title “stylist.” I’ve always been drawn to clothes and creativity — even as a kid, I loved thrifting and finding ways to express myself through style. That curiosity turned into a passion for storytelling, which led me to study Broadcast Journalism at Florida A&M University. While there, I hosted a hip-hop and R&B radio show on 90.5 WA&M and served as the Fashion Director for Journey Magazine. That’s where I really discovered how fashion and media intersect to shape culture.

After graduating from FAMU, I founded DRS Styling Studio, where I focus on helping clients transform their style, confidence, and brand presence. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week and Atlanta International Fashion Week as an assistant runway coordinator, and most recently as the Runway Coordinator for The Beauty Weekend Conference.

Today, I’m continuing to grow DRS Styling Studio, host fashion-focused events like Cocktails & Clothes, and expand my partnership with Bloomingdale’s, where I help bridge the gap between everyday shoppers and elevated, accessible style. My journey has been all about evolving — from thrifting in grade school to curating looks for clients and events that inspire confidence and creativity.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but I wouldn’t trade the lessons for anything. Working in fashion and building a business as a creative entrepreneur has its highs and lows. There were moments when I doubted myself, especially starting out with limited resources, balancing full-time work while trying to grow my brand, and learning how to turn passion into profit.

There’s also the challenge of being a creative in Atlanta, where the fashion industry is still growing. I had to learn how to create my own opportunities — pitching collaborations, styling shoots on a budget, and building my portfolio from scratch. At times, it felt like I was doing everything alone, but those moments taught me resilience and resourcefulness.

Every setback ended up shaping me into a stronger stylist and businesswoman. It pushed me to refine my brand, strengthen my client relationships, and stay grounded in my “why” — helping people express their best selves through style.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a wardrobe stylist and creative director who helps individuals and brands elevate their image through intentional style. Through my company, DRS Styling Studio, I offer services like closet detoxes, personal shopping, and event styling — all centered around helping clients align their wardrobe with their lifestyle, goals, and personal brand.

I specialize in creating luxury experiences that feel relatable and attainable, whether that’s curating a professional wardrobe for a client, styling creative shoots, or hosting fashion-centered events that educate and inspire. My approach is rooted in connection — I don’t just dress people; I help them see themselves differently.

I’m most proud of the community I’ve built and the opportunities that came from trusting my journey — like my partnership with Bloomingdale’s, working with major fashion weeks in New York and Atlanta, and serving as Runway Coordinator for The Beauty Weekend Conference.

What sets me apart is my ability to blend storytelling, confidence, and culture into everything I style. I have a background in broadcast journalism, so I see fashion as a form of communication — a visual story that speaks before you say a word. My clients come to me not just for clothes, but for transformation.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Atlanta is the creative energy and community. There’s so much talent here — from fashion to music to entrepreneurship — and everyone is hungry to build something meaningful. It’s a city full of visionaries, and I love how accessible collaboration feels. You can meet someone at an event or coffee shop and end up creating something powerful together. Atlanta really gives you the space to find your lane and make your mark.

What I like least is that the fashion industry here is still developing. There’s incredible creativity, but not always enough structure, funding, or visibility for stylists and fashion professionals to grow the way we can in cities like New York or L.A. Still, that challenge has motivated me to be part of the movement that’s helping shape Atlanta’s fashion scene from the ground up.
