Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizzy Hiet.
Hi Lizzy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a performer my whole life. At five years old, I remember watching Hannah Montana and telling my dad “that’s what I want to do.” I did a local kids’ Broadway production of Aladdin in the fifth grade, and then an honor choir with the University of Arizona in high school. I started posting singing videos of myself on Facebook and YouTube starting in middle school. No matter how many career paths I considered, performing was always there in the back of my mind.
When I was eighteen I joined the military in the midst of COVID, thinking it was time to “grow up” and “pick a real job.” Three years in, I was spending every single weekend at the movie theater, and it made me realize that maybe I shouldn’t have shoved my dreams of performing so far down. I started taking virtual acting lessons once a week in January of 2024, before I started working with Catapult Acting Studios in March of 2025. Acting became my outlet, and it’s a space I can always come home to no matter what I’m feeling.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my main struggles was the constant feeling of shame. Like I needed to hide away this huge dream I have.
“You need to be realistic” they all say. But why?
My family didn’t make a lot of money growing up, so the military gave me the opportunity and the finances to finally follow a dream I’ve had my entire life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an actor.
I specialize mostly in TV and film, but have a love for musicals because of my background in singing.
I’m most proud of the authenticity I bring to my performances. Every character I’m given I look at like it’s another person. I’m not PRETENDING to be someone else, I’m simply putting their shoes on, and REALLY walking in them.
I think something that sets me apart from others is the fact that I’m also a writer. When I act, there’s so many different parts of my brain working together at lightning speed to give whatever character I’m playing the love and attention to detail it deserves.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
My testimony: I believe as actors, our job is to make people feel seen, heard, and understood by the characters we play. Someone out there is going to watch your performance, and you want them to say “I see myself in that character.” No matter how much we, as an actor, might dislike the character or their actions.
