Conversations with Lovell Gates

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lovell Gates.

Hi Lovell, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, I am an actor, stunt performer, stunt/fight coordinator and first tiem director. Best known for portraying Miles, the lead in the action-drama miniseries Winner Takes All, Various sketches with Funarios and for his role in the drama series Orders .

With a foundation in theater from an early age, Lovell Gates transitioned to film in the 2000s and began professional stunt training in 2019. He continues to build a career that combines dramatic performance with high-level action work, bringing versatility, discipline, and physical storytelling to both acting and stunt roles.

His stunt credits include BMF and One Spoon of Chocolate. As a stunt/fight coordinator, he has worked on the feature films Bullet-Rush and the action-horror film Escape Island, helping design and execute dynamic action sequences.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is all terrain. Some months you will feel like you can walk on clouds, your booking a lot. There will be days you will struggle to produce a positive mindset do to rejection, while also struggling to pay rent. This journey is not easy at all, but very rewarding. Make sure you have a good support group ( that could be with friends, family or loved one), make time to rest and have a side gig.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
It’s simple, I specialize in storytelling. Getting the audience to believe a lie that they want to be true. I’m known for bringing avatars and the world they live in to life. This could be from getting slammed into truck, death battles, a father pain and rage of losing a child or dhampirs conflict of nature. My focus is to allow the audience to be immerse in the stories. The difference between myself as well as others is my name and they may see green where I see blue,

Any big plans?
I plan on have my own production studio. I want to tell more stories that aren’t as well known, especially with POC characters types.
