Conversations with Mike Kramer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Kramer.

Hi Mike, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Chaplins Roswell opened in 1987 by Daniel Kamran, and Jospeh Redford. Shortly after opening they started doing Karaoke and quickly became known as the best Karaoke show in Atlanta. They successfully ran the bar for almost 40 years before the new owners Mike Kramer and Jobe Gruber bought the bar and continued the Karaoke Tradition. Mike Kramer has owned and operated bar in and around the atlanta area for over 20 years before purchasing Chaplins. Since purchasing chaplins he has revamped the outdoor patio space by adding a whole new bar and completely renovating the space. He also added a DJ on the patio on Friday and Saturday nights that provides the bar with perfect balance of Karaoke and a space to tuck away and dance the night away if you’re not partaking in Karaoke in the main bar. Mike and Jobe completely revamped the kitchen and the menu and since then business has grown significantly with Mike Kramers bar knowledge and Jobe Grubers food and kitchen expertise.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Chaplins was one of the last places in Roswell that still allowed smoking inside and when Mike and Jobe bought the bar they quickly realized that in order to attract more families and expand clientele they had to put an end to smoking. Originally they were not sure how that decision would effect the many regulars that enjoyed smoking but quickly realized that the regulars that were frequent flyers were not just coming in because of the smoking but also because of the staff they had built long-standing relationship with and the prices that cant be beat. Before the new ownership Chaplins had a large outdoor patio that was not being utilized during the busiest hours of the night and Kramer had to find a way to turn the space into not just usable space but a space that significantly increased the opportunity for the bar to make money. Now the space is used as a fully functioning bar and dance floor that allows the atmosphere to greatly enhance the Chaplins experience.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
