Conversations with Mwanje Thompson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mwanje Thompson.

Hi Mwanje, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story begins with God, family, and faith. Everything I have been able to build and become is rooted in the grace of God and the foundation my family gave me. Growing up in Milwaukee, I was surrounded by people who taught me the importance of hard work, service, creativity, and staying grounded in who I am. My faith has always been my anchor, and even when I did not know exactly where the road was leading, I trusted that God had a purpose for my life.

I have always had a love for creativity, storytelling, and helping people find their voice. That passion eventually led me to create Audio Moguls Media in 2020. What started as a media idea grew into a platform focused on podcasting, audio production, storytelling, video, youth media, and helping Black and Brown creators share their stories with ownership and confidence.

My journey also expanded into education and ministry. As a media educator, I get to teach young people about podcasting, entrepreneurship, digital citizenship, and content creation. That work means a lot to me because I believe God gave each of us a voice, and part of my purpose is helping others discover how powerful their voice can be.

Family has also played a major role in keeping me focused. They remind me why I started, who I represent, and what really matters. My journey has not always been easy, but my faith has carried me through every challenge, setback, and season of growth.

Today, I’m continuing to build Audio Moguls Media and other creative projects that connect media, culture, technology, gaming, and community impact. I’m grateful for where I am, but I also know I’m still becoming. Everything I do is bigger than me — it is about honoring God, making my family proud, serving my community, and using my gifts to create opportunities for others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. There have definitely been challenges, setbacks, and moments where I had to lean on God more than my own understanding. Building something from the ground up takes faith, patience, sacrifice, and a lot of consistency, especially when you are trying to create something meaningful without always having every resource you need.

One of the biggest struggles has been balancing vision with reality. I have had big dreams for Audio Moguls Media and the work I want to do in the community, but there were times when the funding, support, equipment, or opportunities did not match the vision yet. I had to learn how to keep going even when things were moving more slowly than I wanted them to.

Another challenge has been learning how to wear many hats. As a creator, educator, producer, entrepreneur, and servant in the community, there are seasons where you are building, teaching, producing, planning, and showing up for others all at the same time. That can be heavy, but it has also shaped me. It taught me discipline, humility, and the importance of staying rooted in my purpose.

There have also been personal moments where I questioned myself, my timing, and whether I was doing enough. But my faith, my family, and my relationship with God kept me grounded. I believe every struggle taught me something I needed for the next level.

Looking back, I am grateful the road was not always easy, because it built character. The challenges helped me become more intentional, more resilient, and more committed to serving others through media, education, and storytelling. I do not see the struggles as stopping points. I see them as part of the testimony.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is centered around media, storytelling, education, technology, and community impact. I am the founder of Audio Moguls Media, a creative media company that helps creators, organizations, churches, businesses, and young people bring their stories to life through podcasting, audio production, video, digital content, and creative strategy.

I specialize in helping people find, shape, and share their voice. Whether I am producing a podcast, helping a creator build their brand, teaching students how to create content, or developing media projects for the community, my goal is always the same: to use media as a tool for purpose, ownership, and impact.

I am known for being someone who can take an idea and turn it into something real. A lot of people have a vision, but they do not always know how to structure it, record it, package it, or release it. That is where I come in. I help people move from “I have an idea” to “I have a platform.”

One of the things I am most proud of is the work I have been able to do with young people. As an educator and media mentor, I have had the opportunity to teach students podcasting, entrepreneurship, digital citizenship, and storytelling. Watching students realize that their voice matters and that they can create something meaningful is one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.

I am also proud of the growth of Audio Moguls Media and the development of the Audio Moguls app, audiomoguls.app. The app is an extension of the mission — creating a space where listeners, creators, and communities can connect in a more interactive and meaningful way. My vision for the app is to make audio content more engaging, rewarding, and community-driven while giving independent creators more visibility and opportunity.

What started as an idea has grown into a platform connected to creativity, culture, faith, business, technology, and community. I want Audio Moguls to be more than just a media company. I want it to be an ecosystem where stories are produced, creators are supported, young people are inspired, and communities are connected.

What sets me apart is that I do not just see media as content. I see it as ministry, legacy, education, and opportunity. My work is rooted in God, family, faith, and service. I care about the story behind the microphone, the purpose behind the brand, and the people behind the platform. For me, success is not just about numbers or visibility. It is about impact, transformation, and helping others believe their voice has value.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me, collaborate with me, or support me in a few different ways. Through Audio Moguls Media, I work with creators, businesses, churches, schools, organizations, and community leaders who are looking to tell their stories through podcasting, audio production, video, digital content, and creative strategy.

If someone has a podcast idea, a brand story, a community project, or a message they want to share, I would love to help bring that vision to life. I also enjoy collaborating with other creatives, videographers, photographers, educators, entrepreneurs, and organizations that believe in using media to impact culture and community.

People can also support by listening to the shows we produce, sharing our content, booking our services, partnering with us on youth media programs, or connecting us with opportunities that align with our mission. A major part of my heart is creating more access for Black and Brown creators and young people, so support can also look like sponsoring programs, donating resources, or helping us expand our reach.

Another way people can support is by checking out the Audio Moguls app at audiomoguls.app. The app is part of my larger vision to build a more interactive, community-driven space for listeners, creators, and independent voices. I want Audio Moguls to be more than a media company — I want it to become an ecosystem where people can discover content, connect with creators, and support stories that matter.

The best way to connect with me is by email at [mwanje@audiomogulsmedia.com](mailto:mwanje@audiomogulsmedia.com) or by visiting audiomoguls.app. I am always open to meaningful partnerships, creative projects, speaking opportunities, workshops, and collaborations that are rooted in purpose, faith, culture, and community impact.

At the end of the day, I believe collaboration is about building something bigger than yourself. If the mission is to tell powerful stories, create opportunities, and serve people well, then I am always open to the conversation.
