Today we’d like to introduce you to Nolita.
Hi Nolita, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Nolita’s creative foundation was built early—growing up immersed in music through her mother’s work in the industry, spanning record labels and artist management, and with legendary R&B artist Aaron Hall as her godfather. Surrounded by artistry from a young age, her path into the creative world was inevitable.
She initially pursued fashion design in high school, where her work ethic and eye for aesthetics set her apart. But she quickly realized her passion leaned more toward embodying style than constructing it. That shift led her fully into music, where she found her voice through production and DJing.
Over the years, Nolita built a name for herself performing at major festivals and arenas, touring, and producing music that landed in film and sync placements—all while cultivating a reputation as a fashion-forward tastemaker and true music connoisseur.
In 2024, she stepped into her next evolution as a recording artist. Drawing inspiration from global travel, diverse cultures, and the highs and lows of her personal journey, Nolita began crafting a sound that reflects both her lifestyle and perspective. Since then, she has continued to build momentum with releases like “I Guess” and “The Mayor,” marking the beginning of a powerful new chapter in her artistry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, and no. But isn’t that with anything? I would say it’s been a pretty smooth road because mentally I’m aware with any venture, job or hobby there will be ups and downs. So I’m able to pin point the problem and find a solution without panicking. I think it has also helped me to boss up and work under pressure.
I would say the biggest struggle would be formulating the right team of like minded individuals or just overall people that want to see you win aside from your home team. Everyone is trying to make it somewhere so people may love the music or your craft but finding people who genuinely want to be involved because they believe in you can be difficult to find because so many different factors come into play whether it being, ego, vulnerability, exhaustion, fear of wasting their own time… The list goes on. However we’ve all been through things and I think solidifying a team is important, that is the biggest struggle I’ve experienced along the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Recording artist
Producer
I’ve been an open format DJ for 8 years. I’m most proud of all of the experiences and people I got to meet at a young age that catapulted me to the space I’m in now where I’m resourceful and musically free where I feel like I can create whatever sounds I want. I’m very meticulous and particular about everything that I do, I don’t think people take very specific things as serious as they should, a lot of things get written off and that’s what sets me apart from others. Everything is done for a reason, every single detail, it may be a treasure hunt but the deeper meaning is there. So be it.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve had many mentors over the years all of which play an important role in the industry till this day. When I initially started DJing putting on for women was the biggest thing for my brand because DJ’s that are women is not a familiarity. I believe all of the women that came out to most if not all of my shows deserve credit because they always made the Nolita brand what it is today. My mother deserves credit because when I started my music career 8/9 years ago she was always patient and supportive, and I was able to do what I needed to do in peace without pressure to move through life as someone I’m not. Really just my entire community and everyone who pushes me to release more music, be in front of the camera more, etc.
