Conversations with Oriana Rasane

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oriana Rasane.

Hi Oriana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m from South Africa, and I never believed I was blessed with extraordinary talent, because I certainly didn’t see it. Where I come from, dreaming big isn’t encouraged. Being practical is seen as the logical path to success. My parents were never married, but they gave me the little they could.

My journey started when I longed for something more. Simply existing was never enough for me. Hence the talk of purpose and destiny, which followed me a lot, even though I couldn’t yet see any sign of extraordinary ability. In hindsight, I believe that cry of destiny was an acknowledgement of power within me: what I was created to do, to become, and to transform.

I’ve always carried strong convictions and had something to say about explosive topics. That alone should have been a sign of hidden treasure. I believe in God, the Creator, and that He moves with intention, especially toward His human creation. We were made fantastically, and our responsibility is to unleash His intention in our lives. Every tool has a purpose.

Through finding my purpose, I learned I was a writer. It wasn’t vivid at first. I literally had to dig to see it. I believe this is why many people think they aren’t talented: they look at themselves with surface level vision. “What you see is what you get” is simply not true. We live with ourselves, yet we know so little about ourselves. Without that yearning to dig, I would never have discovered her, me.

Through years of self discovery, I emerged as I am. That journey uncovered an author, a God given, created author. Like a trained muscle, the gift activated, keeps revealing new potential when you give it time. Today I write about the stories and issues that convict me. I’m bold with my pen, and I don’t shy away from any topic.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been brutal, and I must be honest about that. Operating with a vision unseen is a lot. Blind faith doesn’t put food on the table, and time doesn’t stand still waiting for you to win. You get older, your peers advance right in front of you, and you wonder what went wrong with you. It is brutal on the soul.

Then you reach a crossroads. What does destiny and purpose mean to you? With great self respect, what are you chasing? What means more than anything? What does happiness look like to you? That answer is individual. Each person needs to look inward and ask what the meaning of life is for them, removing the world’s definitions, what they say, what she says, and asking what do you want.

The fight for your own conclusion is like a breath of fresh air. Fresh wind, new power, new perspective, new normal, because these perspectives are born from a deep internal knowing. Wonderful things happen when you are introduced to yourself. You are no longer driven by the masses or the voice of the crowd, because your internal dialogue finally has a voice that is heard. It becomes a navigator that keeps you true and real to yourself.

But the fight continues in keeping the narrative the narrative, and not reverting to the status quo. The crowd can be so loud, unyielding to the cries of the heart and the true me, and to my original calling.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m proud of being deliberately different. My natural rhythm doesn’t allow me to copy the voice of the masses. In my approach, I’ve always stood alone, which is why I’m a writer and an introducer of new ideas. I’m proud of my difference and my voice.

I’ve written five books and published three. My books aren’t bound by countries or continents. They belong to the world, and the people who love them come from all over it. That resonates with my original intention. I speak to the human race, and I’m not blinded or bound by human constructed visions, because those hindrances should not exist at all.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Honestly, I don’t like the word luck, and I feel strongly about it. I don’t believe there is any such thing, good or bad. The idea of luck rests on external, unknown forces that blows favor in your direction, and that is not how my life has been created.

I believe it is purpose driven intention. There is a pre established path, and you use your gifts to paint the path of your life. It isn’t out there, it’s inside you. Purpose creates the events of your life. It was never luck. It was always the intended direction.
