Today we’d like to introduce you to RASHAY THA MUA.
Hi RASHAY, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started by watching my mother, put her lipstick on in the bathroom as I was a child she would be getting ready to go to the clubs at night and whenever I would watch her that’s when I knew I was different but from where I’m from liking things like that is not excepted in the small town where I was from but me seeing her transform into this beauty queen I then knew at that age I wanted to be a part of something like that I remember I would get so excited just to see her get ready to go out. I would say that I got to where I am because I wanted it the most and because my mother always pushed me to keep going and to make something out of myself, and I always promised that little boy as a child that I would become something huge one day and that little boy is me so I know I have something to prove to him. I cannot let him down and I will not let my mother down. God rest her soul. She was murdered and took from me September 2025 and I will not stop. I’m coming for it all. It’s my time now.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I can honestly say that my fans have been supporting me through it all, and I honestly can say that I have had my hard times where I wanted to give up and where I didn’t think I was good enough. I also even would get discouraged whenever doors would be shut in my face or whenever I knew I was amazing and the best for a certain gig but others I felt that wasn’t better than I was for the job but they got picked because of who they knew verses their talent and I say that humbly… I’m a strong believer of there is enough out here for everyone and we all can eat together and it’s not all about the money to me. I actually have a passion for what I do…a lot of people just do it for money, but I can honestly say I know my time is now and those doors are opening for me and those other b*tchez know as well lol I love my fellow artist but move ova get with it or get smoked BRING IT!!!!!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My name is Rashay Gidney my artist name and what I’m known by is RASHAY THA MUA I’m a professional traveling celebrity makeup artist and entrepreneur based in Atlanta, GA, recognized for my dramatic transformations. Often called the “makeup plastic surgeon” and “transformation King,” I specialize in high-impact looks and I’m also a model as well and I’m also known for my outrageous hairstyles and over the top in your face fashion statements. I’m most proud of myself for continuing to grow as an artist and not ever giving up, I will be one of the greatest artist there ever was and I say the word artist because one day I will be everywhere. I will be Mogul for multiple things not just make up, but makeup is my first love. My entire aura and overall package is what sets me apart from everyone else. I’m nothing like anyone else and the things I do has never been done before i’m original…..I feel that’s what the industry is lacking a lot of people lack originality these days.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Oh my goodness it’s so many that’s a hard one lol I guess I would say when my mother would take me over to my grandma Josie’s house on weekends I have the best times over there with my cousins just me being a child and enjoying my youth because I am the only child on my mothers side so it felt great to be around other children but I have so many memories but I can only pick one lol I do also love my birthdays my mom always gave me the best birthdays lol my birthday parties was always lit lol and one more I would say is me spending time with my brothers and my dad as a child I love my brothers and dad so much. Also another time I remember that I enjoyed was when my grandparents Texas & Pete took me and my cousin Brittani to the beach with them that was so much fun and another funny time is when I saw a skunk outside I think I was like 7 years old and my uncle Floyd ‘Toby’ saw me about to pick up the skunk I thought it was a cat or something and he yelled “BOY BETTER GETCHO A** AWAY FROM THAT SKUNK ITS GOING TO MESS YOU UP” and I repeated everything as a child so I then went into the house and repeated everything word for word in this tiny high pitched country little voice lol man those were the days.
