Today we’d like to introduce you to Skya Daniels.
Skya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been interested in content creation, even before I knew what an influencer was. I remember being in high school watching YouTubers all the time and thinking, “I want to do that too.” The problem was that I cared too much about what other people thought, so I never started because I was afraid of possible opinions.
During my last year of college, while earning my Graphic Design degree, I really began leaning into my creative side. I downloaded TikTok and originally only went live on the platform. My first goal was simply reaching 1,000 followers so I could unlock live streaming. Once I hit that milestone, my next goal became reaching 5,000 followers and getting accepted into the TikTok Creator Program.
As my audience grew, I began posting videos alongside my lives. At first, I shared the same Graphic Design content and mixed in everyday moments I would normally post on my Instagram Stories, just to see what resonated with people. Over time, I became more intentional. I optimized my profile, created a creator email, learned from other creators, and started viewing my platform as something I could truly grow.
Getting accepted into the TikTok Creator Program was a major milestone because it felt like validation that my consistency was paying off. Around that same time, I launched a YouTube channel because I wanted a space for longer-form content and to pursue the dream that had originally inspired me years earlier. That decision led me to creating mini vlogs on TikTok and eventually investing in my first camera so I could vlog for YouTube as well.
As I experimented with different types of content, I discovered how much I enjoyed creating mini vlogs, food reviews, product videos, and sharing pieces of my everyday life. One of my first viral videos was a simple video where I made a bag of seafood look aesthetic. At the time, most of my content averaged around 1,000 views, so watching that video grow to nearly 200,000 views was surreal.
That was one of the moments that made me realize I could really do this. It taught me to stop overthinking and simply create what I enjoy without worrying about rules or expectations. What once felt intimidating has become something I’m genuinely passionate about. Today, I create lifestyle, beauty, food, and vlog content while continuing to grow my community across TikTok and YouTube. I’m still learning every day, but I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. The first challenge was getting over the fear of what other people might think, and honestly, I still deal with that sometimes. There are moments when I look at my own content and cringe, but I’ve learned thats my own judgement trying to over power me and I post anyway.
Another challenge has been balancing content creation with a full-time job. A lot of people don’t realize how much work goes into creating content. There’s filming, editing, planning, and finding time to stay consistent. At one point, I stopped posting and going live for a month or two because work became overwhelming and I was exhausted by the time I got home.
Eventually, I had to develop a system and become more intentional with my time. There are still nights when I’m up late editing, brainstorming ideas, or sacrificing sleep to finish a project, but seeing the final result makes it worth it. It’s not always easy, but it’s something I’m genuinely passionate about, and that’s what keeps me going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a lifestyle content creator who shares beauty, food, travel, and everyday life through mini vlogs and relatable content. As someone who balances a full-time career while building a creative platform, I enjoy showing that you don’t need a perfect life or schedule to pursue your passions.
What I’m most proud of is growing a community by simply being myself and documenting my journey as I learn, explore new experiences, and work toward my goals. Over time, my content has evolved into a space where people can find inspiration in everyday moments.
I believe what sets me apart is my authenticity. Whether I’m trying a new restaurant, sharing a mini vlog, or documenting a personal milestone, my goal is to make ordinary moments feel meaningful and encourage others to romanticize their own lives along the way.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One of the things I love most about Atlanta is the energy. As someone who has lived in Georgia my entire life, I’ve spent a lot of time in and around the city growing up. Atlanta has always felt like a place full of opportunity. Whether you’re a creator, entrepreneur, student, or simply looking to meet new people, there are so many ways to build connections, discover new experiences, and have fun.
If I had to pick something I like least, it would probably be the commute. Since I don’t live directly in the city, it can take some time to get there depending on traffic. And of course, there’s the parking situation sometimes it feels like you have to pay for parking everywhere you go. That’s probably my biggest complaint, but it’s a small tradeoff for everything the city has to offer.
