Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Barrett.

Hi Tanya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A Little About Me

Where do I begin? I’ll start with the little girl in me—where it all began, and how my childhood shaped the woman I am today.

I was born to two teenagers, Seda and Leon. My mother was a brilliant woman with an incredible amount of talent. She was a quick learner, creative, and had a heart of gold. My father, on the other hand, was a troubled man who battled mental illness. He often led with anger and chaos, a reflection of battles he never fully escaped.

They both struggled with drug addiction, and during the height of the AIDS epidemic, they became casualties of that war. I was just 17 years old when I lost my father, and 19 when I lost my mother.

Trying to find my way in the world without my core foundation was incredibly hard, but I was blessed with a supportive family who helped carry me through the darkest moments. I have witnessed more pain and sorrow than most people see in a lifetime, and because of that, my heart naturally gravitated toward something different—something joyful.

That is how I found my way into a business centered on celebration.

I love watching my clients smile, laugh, and fully enjoy themselves. It’s rewarding in ways that are difficult to put into words. In a sense, I live my life through each event I’m a part of. My clients may never know just how deeply connected I am to their joy, but I believe that connection is what allows me to create such meaningful and exceptional experiences.

My heart is truly there. For one night, I get to experience joy alongside them—and that means everything to me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is filled with obstacles and challenges—that is the heartbeat of the world. I remain constantly prepared for both the good and the bad. The difficult moments are never convenient; they never arrive at the “right” time. The only certainty is that they will come.

When they do, I choose to experience life by focusing on the goodness within the situation. I ask myself: What am I meant to learn? How do I recover quickly and move forward stronger?

Business is hard—but life is harder.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories live in my mother’s birthday parties. Each year, she honored my existence in a way that made the world pause, if only for a moment. In her eyes, I was everything—the center of the celebration, the reason joy filled the room. Those parties weren’t just gatherings; they were love made visible. I miss them more than words can say.
