Conversations with Tyler Ford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Ford.

Hi Tyler, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started creating content about 10 years ago after watching YouTubers and thinking, “I could do that.” Looking back, I probably always knew I’d end up in front of or behind a camera in some capacity. As a kid, I was directing, filming, editing, and acting out mini-movies by myself, and I wouldn’t even go on vacation without vlogging the entire trip. Creating and sharing stories was something I genuinely enjoyed long before I realized it could become a career. During quarantine, I transitioned into short-form content, and through years of trial and error I’ve built an audience, made valuable connections, and created opportunities I never could have imagined.

My modeling and commercial acting career happened completely by accident. Before November, I had no formal experience in either industry. I was walking through Costco when I got scouted and soon signed with an agency. What felt like a random encounter ended up introducing me to a new passion. Before long, I was working with brands like Auntie Anne’s, NASCAR, and American Express. I still remember seeing myself featured on the Belk website—it was one of those surreal moments where it all started to feel real.

Since then, I’ve signed with multiple agencies, traveled both nationally and internationally for shoots and campaigns, and expanded into television, with a few productions set to air soon. Along the way, I also earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology and recently completed my master’s degree in Cybersecurity. While those fields may seem very different, they’ve helped shape the work ethic, discipline, and adaptability I bring to everything I do today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. Like most people pursuing a creative career, I’ve dealt with uncertainty, rejection, and plenty of moments where things didn’t go as planned. I’m still learning how to operate in many of these spaces, and honestly, leaving it to the Lord to guide me has been one of the best things for me. I love the scripture Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God.” It’s a reminder that it’s okay if something doesn’t work out the way I hoped. All I can do is keep pushing forward, do my best, and trust that what’s meant for me will find me.

On a personal level, I’m a perfectionist and an overthinker, so I can put a lot of pressure on myself to do my best work. Consistency is something I’ve always worked on because I have far more ideas than I’ll ever be able to execute. I’ve learned that sometimes it’s better to take action than to wait for something to be perfect.

Looking back, those challenges have taught me resilience, patience, faith, and the importance of continuing to show up, even when the results aren’t immediate.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
These days, I spend most of my time learning, improving my craft, and staying busy. I’m a bit of a workaholic and am always looking for ways to challenge myself. Right now, my primary focus is content creation, modeling, commercial acting, and brand partnerships.

My career is honestly pretty multifaceted. While I’ve been prioritizing the social media and entertainment side of things, I also take a lot of pride in my fitness journey. Fitness has been a major part of my life for years, and it’s something I plan to share more of online. A lot of people I meet regularly ask how I stay lean or what I do to maintain my physique, so I’m excited to eventually create content that helps others reach their own goals as well.

What I’m most proud of is my willingness to pursue opportunities, even when they’re outside of my comfort zone. Whether it was building a platform online, earning my master’s degree, or stepping into modeling and acting with no prior experience, I’ve always been willing to bet on myself.

I think what sets me apart is my determination and adaptability. Most people know me for one thing, but I’ve always been someone with interests that extend far beyond a single path. I’ve learned how to adapt to new environments, stay curious, and embrace challenges as they come. If there’s something I want to accomplish, I’m willing to put in the work, learn what I need to learn, and make it happen.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My biggest piece of advice would be to simply get involved. If something interests you, apply for it, attend the event, volunteer, show up, or find a way to be a part of it. So many opportunities come from putting yourself in the right environments and surrounding yourself with people who are already doing what you aspire to do.

For me, networking has always worked best when I focus on building genuine relationships rather than trying to get something from someone. Every time I step onto a set, attend an event, or meet someone new, I try to learn from the experience. I’ve been fortunate to connect with people who have years of experience and are willing to share advice, and being around individuals who are passionate about their craft is incredibly motivating.

I consider myself a student of the game. Whether it’s content creation, modeling, acting, fitness, or business, I try to absorb as much knowledge as possible and learn from everyone around me. The more curious and open-minded you are, the more opportunities you’ll find to grow.

At the end of the day, mentorship and networking often start with a simple conversation. You never know who you’ll meet, what you’ll learn, or how one interaction can completely change the trajectory of your life. In many ways, that’s exactly how my own journey began.
