Today we’d like to introduce you to Adi Levhar.
Hi adi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started in early 2019, following the birth of my eldest daughter, Maya. Like many new mothers, I found myself navigating the overwhelming waters of postpartum depression. But beyond the emotional struggles, I was faced with a harsh reality: I was trying to balance recovering from a c-section, returning to work, and caring for a newborn in a foreign country, completely cut off from my family, friends, and familiar support systems.
With my husband facing a long, exhausting daily commute, I was often on my own. I was deeply fatigued by endless sleepless nights, consumed by constant worry about everything from my baby’s development to groceries shopping, and the hardest part was the struggle to meet even my own most basic needs like eating and drinking.
During this incredibly lonely time, I realized how unprepared we, as women, are for the day after giving birth. We leave the hospital without an ‘instruction manual.’ Society expects us to naturally know how to decode a baby’s cry, navigate breastfeeding, and understand developmental milestones, all while bouncing back to who we were before. Even the advice I sought from pediatricians felt disconnected and unhelpful, and the endless, conflicting information online only added to the confusion and noise.
That profound sense of isolation and the glaring lack of proper guidance became my turning point. I realized that mothers shouldn’t have to feel misunderstood or left to figure it out alone. This struggle ignited my passion and led me to start Mothers & Minis. I wanted to create the very thing I lacked; a reliable, empathetic, and knowledgeable space that provides mothers with the practical tools, developmental understanding, and community support they need to thrive and not just survive.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely been far from a smooth road. Building a business is challenging on its own, but doing so while navigating major life transitions and deep personal grief is an entirely different battle.
Right after I finished my studies, my family and I relocated from Florida to Georgia. Moving to a new state meant starting completely from scratch. We didn’t know anyone here, and I had to put an immense amount of energy into understanding the local area, finding my footing, and slowly building a community from the ground up—both personally and professionally.
While trying to plant these new roots, I faced the hardest loss of my life. My father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. He lived overseas, and trying to manage the emotional weight of his illness and subsequent loss, while being so far away and trying to keep a business running, completely broke my heart. There were days when just showing up was a monumental struggle.
But looking back, these exact challenges shaped the core of who I am and how I run my business today. They taught me the true meaning of resilience and deepened my empathy for other mothers who are also juggling heavy, unseen burdens. The road wasn’t easy, but every struggle reinforced my commitment to creating a supportive, strong community for others.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a certified Infant Sensomotor Development Specialist and a Holistic Pediatric Sleep Consultant. My mission is to guide, empower, and support parents through the beautiful yet often intense initial stages of parenthood.
What sets me apart—and what I am most proud of—is my comprehensive, 360-degree approach. I don’t look at sleep challenges or developmental milestones in isolation. Instead, my method is truly holistic, taking into account the baby’s physical and motor development, their environment, and the unique dynamic of the entire family framework. Because motor development and sleep are so deeply interconnected, addressing both allows me to get to the root of the struggles parents are facing and create real, lasting balance.
But beyond my professional training, my secret ingredient is lived experience. I have been exactly where my clients are. I lived through the exhausting blur of sleepless nights and the intensity of postpartum life with my first daughter. I know how it feels to seek out help, study different approaches, and figure out what actually works and what doesn’t.
Additionally, as an immigrant who moved to a new country and then relocated to a new state to start over from scratch, I intimately understand the unique challenges of raising a family without a built-in village.
When parents work with me, they aren’t just getting expert advice; they are getting someone who blends professional expertise with deep personal empathy. I’m proud to have distilled my personal journey and training into a structured, compassionate methodology that gives parents their confidence—and their sleep—back.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in the mid-1980s, my childhood was defined by movement and the great outdoors. Long before smartphones and tablets, I spent endless hours playing outside in nature, riding my bike, running, and playing hide and seek with friends. I was a creative, sensitive child, and much of my world view was shaped by simply observing the natural processes around me.
That screen free, active childhood is a stark contrast to the reality I see today. Nowadays, babies are exposed to screens from just a few months old, which significantly impacts their sensory and motor development. Often, this happens because new parents feel an immense pressure to constantly ‘entertain’ their babies, simply because they haven’t been given the tools or the confidence to just be with them, whether that’s through proper babywearing, floor play, or just navigating daily life together.
My adventurous childhood, combined with my independent, curious nature (which even led me to earn my first degree in Marine Sciences!), is exactly what inspires my work today. It made me realize that I want to help modern parents disconnect from the digital noise and reconnect with their babies. In my workshops, I teach parents how to step back from the urge to over-stimulate, how to embrace natural movement, and how to build a calm, grounded environment where their babies can thrive naturally, just like we used to.
