Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Moy.
Hi Andrew, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was first introduced to and began training Muay Thai in 1999. Over the next 15 years, I dedicated myself to competing in both Muay Thai and Boxing matches. My journey took me across the nation, and I had the honor of representing the United States as part of Team USA at the 2010 WKA World Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland, where I proudly earned the Silver Medal. Additionally, I secured a Silver Medal at the 2013 USA Boxing National Tournament.
In 2007, I began teaching and coaching part-time, focusing on clients interested in boxing and kickboxing for fitness purposes. This led to the establishment of Andrew Moy Fitness in 2015, when I transitioned to a full-time personal trainer. My mission is to share my passion for these sports through training individuals of all ages and backgrounds, helping them to develop their skills and achieve their fitness goals.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The primary challenge in establishing my business is attracting clients. This involves utilizing social media, distributing business cards, and promoting my brand extensively to attract customers. It requires time, patience, and a great deal of effort. Additionally, in my industry, there are fluctuations in business, so it’s important to adapt and persevere through challenges. Just like in boxing, you have to “roll with the punches” and continue working diligently to grow your brand.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a full-time Boxing and Muay Thai trainer with over 25 years of experience, I find joy in helping clients discover the thrill of these dynamic sports. Many come to me seeking not just fitness, but a new skill to master. Each session transforms into a fun, full-body workout that elevates heart rates and alleviates stress, fostering a sense of community and empowerment. Watching my clients leave with smiles, proud of their progress, fuels my passion and reinforces the love I have for the sport. Sharing my knowledge and witnessing their growth is what keeps me motivated. Together, we punch, kick, and connect, turning challenges into triumphs, one workout at a time.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the diversity of the city, and of course the food scene! We definitely have some of best restaurants with flavors from all over the world in our city.
I am sure I’m not alone in this. But the traffic is my least favorite thing about the city.
