Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Russell.
Hi Anna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into this industry has been shaped by trusting my instincts and following what felt right, even early on. I was born and raised in East Tennessee and graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in Business, but while I was still in college, I already knew I wanted to attend esthetics school and pursue something more creative and people-centered.
That path eventually led me to permanent makeup, where I immediately fell in love with the blend of artistry, precision, and the confidence it can give someone. I moved to Nashville to complete a year-long apprenticeship and earn my tattoo license, fully immersing myself in the craft.
My years there helped shape me tremendously as an artist. I refined my technique, built meaningful client relationships, and grew a deep appreciation for how transformative this work can be.
Later, life brought my husband and me to Atlanta for a fresh start. Five days after moving, we found out we were unexpectedly pregnant with our son, which definitely changed the timeline of everything. I stepped back from the industry for about a year to focus on becoming a mom and settling into a new city, while still traveling back to Nashville to care for longtime clients.
Once I was ready, I opened Earthbound Brow Co., my private studio here in Atlanta. Creating a calm, personalized space where clients feel cared for and leave more confident in themselves has become the most rewarding part of what I do.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has honestly been internal. I think many creatives and business owners can relate to dealing with imposter syndrome. Even with happy clients and strong reviews, I’ve often been my own toughest critic. Learning to trust my eye, trust my skillset, and recognize that I am genuinely gifted at what I do has been an ongoing growth process.
Another major challenge came when my husband and I moved to Atlanta. After finding out I was unexpectedly pregnant with our son, I was suddenly navigating pregnancy, building a life in a place where I had no long-established client base, and eventually starting a business while learning how to be a new mom.
That season stretched me in every way. Balancing motherhood, entrepreneurship, and rebuilding in a new city has been challenging, and still can be. But it has also made me stronger, more grounded, and more grateful for every client who chooses to support my business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own Earthbound Brow Co., a private studio in Marietta, GA focused on helping women feel effortlessly put together in their everyday lives. My services are centered around low-maintenance beauty, offering results that simplify your routine while still helping you feel a little more put together. I specialize in permanent makeup, like natural microblading and lip blushing, along with lash lifts, brow lamination, and other services that make day-to-day life easier.
I’m most known for the natural results I create. My goal is never to make someone look overdone or trendy for the moment. I want clients to look like themselves, but even better. I believe the best work is when people notice you look great, but can’t quite tell why.
What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with clients over the years. I’ve been fortunate to create a long list of loyal clients who continue to come back and refer the people they love, and that means more to me than anything. I am also proud of upholding my integrity in this industry.
I’ve had to learn, sometimes the hard way, that saying no can be just as important as saying yes. There have been times when I’ve guided someone toward a different route to achieve their goals, or turned down a service that I didn’t feel was the best fit for them. I value my clients and the integrity of my business in this industry far more than the money there is to be made.
What sets me apart is that I truly care about the person in front of me, not just the appointment on the schedule. I want every client to feel heard, fully informed, and confident that their best interest always comes first.
What’s next?
Looking ahead, I’m most excited about continuing to build a well-known and trusted name for myself in my little corner of the world. Not for attention or recognition, but for the relationships it creates. One of the best parts of this work has always been the people I get to meet, the stories I get to hear, and the confidence I get to help restore along the way. Building a strong reputation simply means being able to serve more of the right people, which is a far healthier motive than internet fame, humanity’s favorite fever dream.
Long term, I would love to expand into the medical tattooing side of this industry. Services like areola restoration and scar camouflage are incredibly meaningful, and the idea of using this craft to help people heal, reclaim confidence, and feel more at home in their bodies really speaks to me. That feels like a natural next chapter because it blends artistry with deeper purpose.
I’d also love to apprentice someone one day who is genuinely passionate about entering this industry the right way. When I was trying to make my way into this industry, it involved a lot of self teaching. People willing to offer their knowledge were few and far between. I would love the opportunity to help someone and be the person I wish I had back then.
For now, my focus is continuing to grow Earthbound Brow Co. steadily and intentionally, while staying open to wherever the next chapter leads.
