Today we’d like to introduce you to BANSHEE.
Hi BANSHEE, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey has never been linear, which honestly makes sense because neither is my creativity.
I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, whether through music, fashion, film, or creating experiences that bring people together. Before DJing, I spent years exploring different creative spaces, but music was always the invisible string connecting everything. I also grew up around DJ culture through my dad, who was a DJ himself, so in a lot of ways music was always part of my world. Looking back, it feels like something I was naturally pulled toward.
After moving to Atlanta in 2023, I spent my first year really refining my craft. figuring out what I liked to play, what felt authentic to me, and how I wanted to shape my sound. I started showing up to open decks, taking on free gigs, and using every opportunity as a way to grow and gain experience in front of different crowds, beyond just my bedroom and mixing for friends.
Through that consistency and drive, I eventually won a DJ slot at Atlanta’s MJQ Concourse, which was a really defining moment for me. Shortly after that, I was offered my first residency with LORE for the summer of 2025, which felt like a major step in solidifying myself within the Atlanta creative scene. That period as a whole really confirmed that I was on the right path.
Today, BANSHEE exists as more than my DJ journey. It’s a reflection of everything that shapes my world: house music, disco, fashion, film, nostalgia, and community. Every set, every mix, and every creative project is rooted in the intention of creating a feeling. I want people to step into a space and fully connect with the moment, with themselves, and with each other.
I’m still evolving and still learning, but that’s what I love about it. Each opportunity has expanded my perspective and pushed me further into who I’m becoming as an artist, and I genuinely feel like I’m still at the beginning of building the world I imagine for BANSHEE.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If I’m being real, there were two main challenges for me. One of the biggest was learning how to trust my own taste and direction. When you’re starting out, especially in a city like Atlanta with such a strong creative scene, it’s easy to feel pressure to fit into a certain sound or lane. I had to learn how to stay grounded in what actually felt like me.
The second challenge was navigating outside opinions early on in my journey. When you’re new, everyone suddenly has input on how you should move or how you should execute your path, and it can become overwhelming trying to figure it all out. That’s why I stay connected to my own vision and make decisions based on what feels aligned with my growth as an artist, rather than trying to meet everyone else’s expectations.
Both of these experiences really pushed me to build more confidence and further create my own path rather than trying to fit into the box people expect me in.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a DJ and creative working under the name BANSHEE. My work lives at the intersection of music, fashion, and storytelling, with a focus on creating sets that feel like experiences rather than just playlists.
I specialize in blending house music, disco, Afro house, and nostalgic sounds in a way that feels emotional and intentional. I’m known for switching it up and keeping people on their toes, creating sets that feel immersive, feel-good, and a little cinematic at the same time.
I’m most proud of bringing BANSHEE to life in all its forms, whether through big or small moments. At the end of the day, everything else is just added growth.
What sets me apart is knowing I’m a creative through and through. Everything I do under BANSHEE is intentional, from the sound to the visuals to the atmosphere I want people to step into. I’m not trying to fit into one lane or replicate a specific formula. I’m focused on creating a space that feels like my own perspective, fully expressed through my art.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think the industry is moving more toward experience driven music. It’s less about hard cut genres and more about how a set makes people feel and the world it creates around it.
DJs are also becoming more like curators and creatives, visuals + fashion, and atmosphere are becoming just as important as the music itself.
Overall, I think the focus is shifting back to feeling and connection, which is really exciting & something I really lean into in my own work.
