Daily Inspiration: Meet Caitlin Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Davis.

Hi Caitlin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my career in hair during COVID, which was such an uncertain time, but in a way, it pushed me to fully commit and build something of my own from the beginning. I focused on refining my craft early on, investing in advanced education, extensions, and color techniques so I could create really elevated, customized results for my clients.

As my clientele grew, I knew I didn’t just want to be behind the chair. I wanted to build a brand and a space that reflected a certain level of artistry, experience, and intention. That vision became Rumoured. While I was in the process of bringing the salon to life, I was also going through one of the hardest seasons of my life. My dad was in the hospital for months, and he ultimately passed away just two weeks before my salon opened.

Opening Rumoured in that moment was incredibly emotional. It forced me to move through grief while still showing up fully for my clients and my business. In a lot of ways, it deepened my “why.” It made me more intentional about the environment I create and the impact I want to have, not just through hair, but through mentorship, education, and building opportunities for other stylists.

Today, I’m not only behind the chair, but also growing a team, developing an assistant program, and educating other stylists through classes focused on both technique and business. My journey hasn’t been linear, but every challenge shaped the brand and perspective I have now and I think that’s what makes it all feel so meaningful.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges was navigating personal loss while building my business. Opening my salon just two weeks after my dad passed was something I don’t think you can ever fully prepare for. I had to learn how to hold space for my clients and show up professionally, while also dealing with grief behind the scenes. That experience changed me. It made me stronger, but it also made me more intentional with how I run my business and how I lead.

Beyond that, growing from a solo stylist into a salon owner has come with its own set of challenges. Hiring, training, creating systems, and stepping into a leadership role isn’t something you automatically know how to do. It’s something I’ve had to learn in real time. There’s also the pressure of maintaining a high standard while scaling, which can be difficult when you care deeply about the details.

I’ve also invested a lot into education, travel, and building my brand, which can feel like a risk at times. Not every investment pays off immediately, and learning to trust my instincts in those decisions has been a process.

But I think every challenge has shaped how I operate today. It’s made me more resilient, more clear on my vision, and more committed to creating something that’s not just successful, but sustainable and impactful long-term.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in elevated brunette color and luxury extension work. My focus is on creating seamless, dimensional brunettes that grow out effortlessly, along with customized extension installs that enhance fullness and length while still looking completely natural.

What I’m known for is a very specific aesthetic—soft, blended, expensive-looking color that doesn’t feel overdone, paired with a luxury experience in the chair.

I think what sets me apart is the combination of artistry and intention. I’m very particular about the details, formulation, placement, and the client experience, but I’m equally focused on the bigger picture: branding, business structure, and long-term growth. I’m not just creating good hair in the moment, I’m building something that lasts, both for my clients and for the stylists I mentor.
