Daily Inspiration: Meet Cali Moshea

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cali Moshea.

Hi Cali, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hi, my name is Calvionne Brown. Many people know me as Cali Moshea now. I am a model and a creator. Modeling has been my passion for as long as I knew what a camera was. When I was as young as 13 my parents began investing in my dreams of being a model, actress and a musician. I have always been multitalented and I’ve always wanted to to be apart of every field that interests me. As an adult I began modeling again full time and I also create YouTube videos as of last May. My goal has always been to show my community that you can be exactly who you want to be and succeed and you can make your life whatever you want it to be. You don’t have to place yourself in the same box society tries to place you in. Especially young black girls and boys who feel like they are already at a disadvantage in life. You are so much stronger and powerful than you’re given credit for and that’s why I will always encourage my community to find Jesus and to follow him. None of what I do or who I am could be possible without the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. He has opened doors I never imagined I’d walk through. He doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies who he calls. Never doubt yourself and your ability to do hard but great things! I am extremely proud of my journey and how far I have come and I am so excited to see how far I will continue to go and the heights I will reach. Also the love and support of my community has shaped and sharpened me in such beautiful ways I will forever be grateful for any and everyone who has ever had an impact on my life.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It absolutely has not been a smooth road. It has not been easy and there have been so many times I’ve felt I wasn’t deserving enough to be in the position I am in. There have been many times I’ve tried to disqualify myself, times I didn’t believe in myself, etc. that’s why the people you are surrounded by are so detrimental. You need people in your corner to speak life over you and encourage you when you can’t. “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.” Ecclesiastes 4:9
People who see your potential and your light even when you feel the light dimming…. “As irons sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Proverbs 27:17
People who remind you of Gods promises and all that he says about you. I am the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13). He has plans to prosper me and not to harm me, to give me hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create YouTube videos about my life in Christ and being a girl navigating her 20’s. This is a new space for me and I am learning so much through this journey. I started just over a year ago and so far I have reached and surpassed milestones I never thought I would. I have been blessed with beautiful relationships through this journey. I have shared testimonies with my community, I have been encouraged and supported by my community and so much more.
I also model full time, I am currently a freelance model. I love what I do and being able to express myself in ways I could never put into words. I get to show the deepest parts of myself through my work, it’s a beautiful feeling.
I am most proud of just being here in this moment, I’m proud that I started. I started scared, I started unsure and doubtful but I pushed myself and believed in myself even when I felt there was no reason to.
Christ sets me apart. I am no better or worse than anyone else. He qualifies me. I’m not strong, Jesus is and that’s my why.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that there is something for everyone here in Atlanta. There’s always a new opportunity. Everyone with a dream can find others with the same dream here. People connect people and I love that.
I dislike the insane traffic that never seems to cease.
