Daily Inspiration: Meet Carl Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carl Johnson.

Hi Carl, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Started portraying Santa for my son’s 5th grade class. I was asked by his teacher at that time walk through the school saying hello and Merry Christmas to everyone. That was 18 years ago.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was a fairly smooth transition from Carl to Santa. I am a heavy set individual with premature gray hair. I have had a full beard since I was 17. I problems I had was where to learn my craft. After stumbling alone for about 3-4 years I heard of a Santa school coming to Atlanta.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I went to several Santa Schools(I am always looking for ways to improve my Santa performance. I have evolved into what is referred to as a “Home visit”. I am most proud of my appearances with special needs children. I have even taught other Santa’s about what to say and do around these children. I have worked at a very long time and continue working at my craft.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I work very hard to increase my knowledge and expertise in the Santa experience. When I go into someone’s home in the Christmas season I work tirelessly to make there experience as enjoyable as possible.
