Daily Inspiration: Meet Dominique Juste

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Juste.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started creating content back in 2012 – my sophomore year of college. I was following all the hair vloggers like Peakmill, Tiarra Monet, Fabulasityisme and they all inspired me to learn how to do my own hair. From there, I decided I wanted to create a channel centered around all things hair and beauty.

When I started my channel I kept it a secret from EVERYONE — including my roommates. I used to whisper while recording to not blow my cover and all! From there, my channel quickly turned into all things beauty and fashion because I was always into fashion. My channel’s URL at the time was ‘livelovefashion3’ (live love ANYTHING had the gworls in a chokehold ok?!)

I filmed OOTDs, OOTWs (outfit of the week), started a blog called ‘ClothesCall’ and highlighted my young, college life through my YouTube videos.

Fast forward to 2020, I moved to Atlanta for a job offer and my creative passion has ignited. Since moving here, I have really been living out my passion which is creating content around fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Now mind you, I always knew my passion was always fashion, but I was convinced that I couldn’t make a living doing YouTube and that it was just a hobby of mine. Especially having Haitian parents, you’re always reminded of going the “traditional” route, and so I did.

I now know that the traditional route has led me to where I am now and for that I’m grateful. Thank you Ma for calling me every. single. day. after I graduated with my B.S. to remind me to pursue my M.S. It made me realize what I truly want out of this life — to live life on my own terms and to truly seek out my passion within creating content. It brings me so much joy seeing all the hard work that I’ve pieced together through editing, filming, putting together outfits and seeing the end result come life. It truly is a blessing to be one of God’s favorites.

I am now walking in true faith that all of my wildest dreams will come true. I don’t have a doubt and thank God for this feeling and for this talent of mine!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a content creator has a few challenges. I don’t have a team — I take all of my photos on my own. I edit all of my photos on my own. I come up with most of my ideas on my own — sifting through all of the content online and finding ones that I connect with and putting my twist to it. And to add having a full-time 9-5 — yeah, it is quite challenging.

But ultimately, if you want something bad enough, the excuses will run dry.

The BIGGEST obstacle by far was myself– getting out of my own head and really hyping my life up! Removing all negative thoughts and doubts and comparisons — it has always been a journey. Even now. I have days where I don’t feel the most confident, but I am at a point where I no longer doubt myself. I no longer doubt my future.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently a Cyber Risk consultant at one of the Big Four professional services firms. I work with clients on a plethora of tasks and opportunities that I can’t necessarily dive into, but it is an amazing career that allows you to learn a lot!

Outside of my 9-5, I am a fashion and beauty content creator. My community and friends know me for my funny personality and my sense of humor. I am sarcastic by nature and dark humor is really what drives me.

I am most proud of believing in myself, because after all these years, I have become less of a doubtful person to someone who really sees what God has planned for my life.

My personality sets me apart. I’m different not because I so badly want to be unique, but because I have yet to meet someone else like myself. I’m compassionate and I truly want to see those I know and those I don’t know, win.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite podcasts are BackTalk and Lovelyti.

The BackTalk podcast is hosted by two Black women named Julia and Kayla who discuss all buzz worthy related topics and all things Black and POC.
Their commentary is relatable and will literally have you nodding “yes” or yelling out “no!!” just because it feels like you’re listening in on a conversation with your best girlfriends.

Lovelyti is an OG so I don’t need to say much — her commentary is insightful, but also just really funny. So I guess I’m a TiSipper!
