Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellie Greene.
Hi ellie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hi, I’m Ellie Greene. I lived all over the USA, and spent 10 formative years in Australia. I didn’t come from money. I didn’t have connections, a safety net, or anyone handing me a roadmap. What I had was hunger and the audacity to believe I could figure it out. At 18 years old, I walked into my job as an employee (a dance teacher) and walked out with a thought. I could run this business better. I took the leap and opened my first business, a performing arts studio. From there, I built many other businesses and held high-level positions in the fields of hospitality, events, marketing, finance, tech, healthcare, and real estate.
I’ve climbed the corporate ladder to Executive Vice President of an entertainment company and am now the President of an events and hospitality company in Atlanta. I have navigated the corporate world, earned multiple degrees, built multiple businesses from scratch, created a consulting business, and developed a tech app as a non-technical founder. Back then, nobody took me seriously — wrong age, wrong background, wrong room. I built my way in anyway. Along the way, I also met and married my husband and have two beautiful daughters. I am proud of all that I have accomplished and am always continuing to grow, learn, and explore new opportunities.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! I have had businesses fail, hurdles caused by COVID, been fired for being pregnant, and combated sexual harassment at work. Each time I stood up for myself, I gave myself the grace to grieve, process, etc., but then moved on to solutions. I don’t consider anything that I have been through as a negative, quite the opposite, I feel these hurdles and in some cases, unfairnesses and indignities, as learning and growth moments. I wouldn’t be where I am without the failures and stumbles.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Currently, I am the President of an Events and Hospitality company in Atlanta called Enspire. I am also a content creator on social media, and am currently developing a mentorship program for that audience. I am known as a mentor for young women, a business leader, as well as a mom and advocate for equality and community. I think what sets me apart from others is my resilience and adaptability. I am able to focus, pivot when necessary, take my disappointments and turn them into opportunities.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Probably that I moved to Australia when I was 15 years old, and spent 10 years there. It formed my worldview in a very unique way. People would also probably be surprised to know that although I can be extremely tough and stoic even at times, I am extremely empathetic and can be sensitive.
