Daily Inspiration: Meet Jahstess Reid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jahstess Reid.

Hi Jahstess, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been a creative at heart, but music became a real outlet for me during times when I needed to process life and express things I couldn’t always say out loud. What started as something personal slowly grew into something I wanted to share.

Over time, I began taking my craft more seriously—spending time in the studio, learning the process, and surrounding myself with people who challenged me to grow. Like a lot of creatives, my journey hasn’t been linear. There have been moments of doubt, transition, and figuring out how to balance real life with the pursuit of something bigger.

Right now, I’m in a space where I’m fully stepping into who I am as an artist. I’m creating music that reflects real experiences, emotions, and growth, and I’m focused on building something that feels authentic and lasting.

I’m still evolving, but everything I’ve been through has shaped my perspective and my sound. This is just the beginning of what I’m building.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been emotional setbacks along the way, and moments where I’ve had to really sit with myself and grow through things I didn’t expect.

Becoming a mother was a major turning point for me. It helped me discover a version of myself I didn’t even know existed, and it shifted how I move, how I create, and what I value.

I’ve also had to navigate people doubting me or trying to push their own ideas onto me, and learning how to trust myself through that. There were moments where people tried to claim a place in my journey before I even had the chance to decide if it aligned with me, and that taught me the importance of boundaries.

On top of that, balancing real life—work, responsibilities, motherhood—with making time for creativity hasn’t always been easy. But all of those challenges have helped me grow into someone who is more grounded, more intentional, and more confident in my path.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an artist and creative, primarily focused on music. I create from real experiences—my work is rooted in emotion, reflection, and growth. A lot of what I make comes from things I’ve lived through, processed, and am still learning to understand, so my music tends to feel personal and honest.

I spend a lot of time in the studio developing my sound and being intentional about what I put out. I’m not just focused on making songs, but on creating something that people can connect to and feel.

One of the projects I’m most proud of is my first song, Failed at Love. It came from a low point in my life, but it helped me realize I still had room to grow and move forward. That experience really shaped how I approach my music, and now I’m continuing to build on that through new releases and collaborations. The song is available on all streaming platforms.

What I’m most proud of overall is my ability to stay true to myself, especially in spaces where it would be easy to follow what other people expect or try to fit into a certain box. I’ve learned to trust my instincts and move in a way that aligns with me.

What sets me apart is that I’m not creating from a place of performance—I create from a place of truth. That shows up in my sound, my presence, and the way I approach my work.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is sitting on the front porch with my dad when I was about four, peeling oranges and listening to the birds sing. It was such a simple moment, but it felt peaceful and safe.

My dad was always a grounding presence for me, and that memory has stayed with me over the years. Looking back, it represents a time in my life where I felt completely at ease, and it’s something I still carry with me now.
