Daily Inspiration: Meet Jalon Campbell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalon Campbell.

Hi Jalon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m the oldest of seven, raised by a single mother in Lexington, Kentucky. Growing up, our mom pushed an entrepreneurial mindset into us before we even knew what that word meant. She always wanted us to build something of our own, something that could take care of us long-term. That foundation shaped everything I am today.

Music came first for me. I started in church playing the drums, and that’s where I realized how deeply I connected with sound. In middle school, I discovered GarageBand at our local library, and that opened a whole new world. By high school, I was learning Mixcraft, and that’s when I met my brother in spirit, Taquan. He rapped, I made beats, so the stars were aligning. Even now, I still believe we’re going to be bigger than anything we imagined back then.

Around that same time, I found FL Studio through YouTube — watching Lex Luger, Zaytoven, 808 Mafia, and so many other producers cook up beats. That lit a fire in me. I’ve been studying FL Studio ever since, learning something new every single day because that program never stops evolving. My high school band instructor helped me understand keys, timing, and musical structure, and that took my production to another level.

Fast forward to today: I’ve mastered my craft, and I’m fully invested in becoming the kind of producer who shapes culture — someone in the lane of Metro Boomin, Mike Dean, Dr. Dre, and others who built worlds with sound. My dream is to produce for artists, movies, commercials, cartoons, TV shows — anything where sound creates emotion. I want to be the guy behind the scenes building the universe.

But my creativity doesn’t stop at music. I’m also building my candle business, VK Candle Co., because I have a real passion for aromatherapy. Creating a scent is like creating a feeling — it sets the tone for a space, just like music sets the tone for a moment. VK Candle Co. is named after my mom as a way to honor her. She’s the reason I understand what “home” feels like.

At the same time, I’m building my delivery company, Tripacaport Logistics LLC. I’ve always loved trucking — maybe I get that from my dad — and there’s something peaceful about being on the road with nothing but open air and purpose. Plus, helping people make a living matters to me. Teaching someone how to fish instead of giving them a fish is the kind of impact I want to leave behind.

Everything I’m building — music, candles, logistics — comes from the same place: passion, purpose, and the desire to create something bigger than myself.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest struggles coming up was not having a real support system. I always had the drive to be better, to grow, to keep going — but the people around me didn’t always see the vision. Outside of my mom, I didn’t have many people who truly supported what I was trying to build. That was tough, especially when you’re young and trying to figure out who you are.

As I got better, things started to shift. My sound improved, my ear got sharper, and my confidence grew. With that came more respect, more support, and more people who finally understood what I was aiming for.

Another major struggle was money. I didn’t have the funds to get the equipment I needed to become the version of myself I knew I could be. I was using old tech, outdated software, and whatever I could get my hands on just to make it work. It got the job done, but the quality wasn’t where I wanted it to be — and that applied to everything I was building, not just music.

But those limitations taught me how to be resourceful, how to create with nothing, and how to keep going even when the circumstances weren’t ideal. That’s a big part of why I’m here today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a creator in every sense of the word. I produce music, I build brands, I design experiences, and I run businesses that come from real passion. Everything I do is rooted in sound, feeling, and intention.

My main craft is music production. I specialize in creating atmospheric, emotional, cinematic beats — the kind of sounds that make people feel something before a single word is spoken. I’ve been producing for years, studying FL Studio like it’s a language, and developing an ear that lets me hear details most people overlook. I’m proud of the fact that I can create a whole world from scratch with just sound. That’s what I’m known for: depth, emotion, and intention in my production.

But I’m also building two businesses that represent different sides of who I am.
VK Candle Co. is my aromatherapy brand — a way for me to create feelings through scent the same way I create feelings through music. Every candle is designed to set a mood, create a space, and make people feel good. The name comes from my mom, because she’s the foundation of everything I am.

Then there’s Tripacaport Logistics LLC, my delivery and trucking company. I’ve always loved the road — the freedom, the purpose, the grind. This business lets me help people make a living while building something that can grow into a real legacy.

What I’m most proud of is that none of this came easy. I built everything from the ground up with old equipment, limited resources, and a whole lot of faith. I didn’t wait for perfect conditions — I created with what I had. That’s what sets me apart. I’m not just talented; I’m resilient, adaptable, and committed. I don’t quit. I don’t fold. I keep building.

What makes my work different is that everything I create — whether it’s a beat, a candle, or a business — comes from a real place. I’m not chasing trends. I’m building worlds. I’m building legacy. And I’m doing it with intention, emotion, and a vision that’s bigger than me.

One of the biggest reasons I go as hard as I do is my daughter. She changed everything for me. Before she was born, I had drive — but after she came into this world, that drive turned into purpose. She made every dream feel bigger, every goal feel more urgent, and every setback feel like something I had to push through instead of sit in.

Even on the days when I’m tired, overwhelmed, or questioning myself, thinking about her resets me. She’s the reason I stay focused, the reason I keep building, and the reason I refuse to settle. I want her to grow up knowing that her dad didn’t just talk about dreams — he chased them, built them, and turned them into something real.

Everything I’m creating — the music, the candle brand, the logistics company — it’s all part of the legacy I want to leave behind for her. I want her to see that no matter where you start, you can build something meaningful. She’s my motivation, my reminder, and my biggest “why.”

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I could give advice to anyone just starting, the first thing I’d say is this: you don’t need anybody to validate what you’re doing. I wish I knew that earlier. I used to wait for people to tell me I was good enough, talented enough, or ready — but the truth is, nobody can see your vision the way you do. Most people won’t understand it until it’s already real.

You have to trust yourself before anyone else does.

Another thing I’d tell beginners is start with what you have. Don’t get caught up thinking you need the best equipment, the perfect setup, or the ideal situation. I built my sound on old tech, outdated software, and whatever I could get my hands on. It wasn’t perfect, but it taught me how to be creative, resourceful, and hungry.

I’d also say: be patient with your growth. You’re not supposed to be a master on day one. You’re supposed to learn, fail, adjust, and keep going. Every mistake is part of the process.

And finally: protect your energy. Not everyone around you will support you, and that’s okay. Don’t let that stop you. Surround yourself with people who push you, not people who drain you. And if you don’t have those people yet, be your own support system until they show up.

Your vision is yours for a reason. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it.
