Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayshre Wallace.
Hi Jayshre, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in the hospitality industry started in Panama City Beach, where I began bartending during spring break. It was a fast-paced environment that taught me the fundamentals of customer service, multitasking, and creating memorable experiences for guests.
In 2012, I moved to Atlanta and began working at Treehouse Pub, where I spent the next 12 years honing my craft as a bartender. While I loved the industry, I always had a dream of becoming my own boss and building something of my own.
That dream became a reality when my dad purchased an old, run-down red horse trailer from a high school friend in Panama City Beach. I drove down to pick it up, brought it back to Atlanta, and began transforming it into what would eventually become Roaming Spirits Mobile Bar. From permits and licensing to renovations and branding, I immersed myself in learning everything it takes to start and run a business.
Like many entrepreneurs, I started by charging very little and taking on as many events as possible to gain experience, exposure, and build a reputation. The hard work paid off. Within a year, I went from booking small events to servicing parties worth thousands of dollars.
The past year has taught me so much about business ownership, customer service, event planning, and personal growth. Every event presents a new opportunity to learn and improve. Today, I continue to work as a bartender while growing Roaming Spirits Mobile Bar, with the goal of eventually running the business full-time.
I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received along the way and excited to see what the future holds. My focus now is expanding the brand, reaching more clients, and continuing to create unforgettable experiences through exceptional hospitality and craft cocktails.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Starting and growing a business has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done, but it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
I’ve had clients ignore the shopping lists I carefully prepared, which can make it challenging to deliver the experience they’re expecting. I’ve blown a tire on the way to a major event and had to figure out how to keep everything moving without disappointing my client.
One of the biggest setbacks was blowing the engine in my truck while towing my mobile bar back from Panama City Beach. As a small business owner, unexpected expenses like that can be overwhelming, especially when your business depends on your equipment being operational.
I’ve also had the trailer jack fail at an event. It was actually a wedding, and the wedding party ended up helping me saw it off just so I could get the trailer home safely. Moments like that test your patience, your creativity, and your determination.
The reality is that when you’re a small business owner, there isn’t always a backup plan or a team waiting to fix things for you. You have to solve problems as they happen and keep moving forward.
Every challenge has taught me something valuable. Those experiences have made me more prepared, more resilient, and more appreciative of every successful event. I’ve been through a lot in a short amount of time, but none of it has been enough to make me give up. If anything, it’s made me even more determined to keep growing and building the business I’ve always dreamed of having.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I own and operate Roaming Spirits Mobile Bar, where I provide mobile bartending services for weddings, private parties, corporate events, and special occasions. My specialty is creating unique, handcrafted cocktails that go beyond the standard mixed drink. I enjoy experimenting with fresh herbs, fruits, edible flowers, house-made syrups, and creative garnishes to create drinks that are both visually stunning and delicious.
One aspect of my work that I’m particularly passionate about is dehydration. I love dehydrating fruits, herbs, and other ingredients to create custom garnishes that elevate the presentation of a cocktail and make each drink feel special. I believe people drink with their eyes first, so presentation is just as important as taste.
Before I ever recommend a cocktail for a wedding, birthday party, or other event, I often test recipes with my regular bar guests. Their feedback helps me refine each drink and ensure it appeals to a wide range of people while still maintaining a unique touch. This process allows me to confidently present clients with cocktails that I know are both creative and crowd-pleasing.
What I’m most proud of is how quickly I’ve grown my business and the reputation I’ve built for creating memorable experiences. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every event is different, and I work closely with my clients to create custom cocktail menus that reflect their personalities, tastes, and vision for their event.
What sets me apart is the level of detail and care I put into every cocktail and every event. From the ingredients I select to the garnishes I create and the personalized service I provide, I strive to make every drink an experience rather than just a beverage.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned throughout my journey is patience. Building a business doesn’t happen overnight, and there have been plenty of setbacks along the way. I’ve learned that staying positive and focusing on solutions instead of problems makes all the difference.
Running a mobile bar has taught me to always be prepared. After dealing with unexpected challenges at events, I’ve learned to overpack supplies, think through every possible scenario, and ask more questions upfront so there are fewer surprises later. Experience has taught me that the more prepared you are, the more confidently you can handle whatever comes your way.
But perhaps the biggest lesson I’ve learned is knowing my worth. When I first started, I was so focused on getting exposure that I often underpriced myself and accepted whatever clients were willing to pay. Over time, I realized that the quality of my work, my experience, my creativity, and the level of service I provide have real value.
Today, I understand that charging appropriately isn’t just about making money—it’s about respecting the time, effort, and passion that goes into every event. Learning to value my work has been one of the most important steps in growing both as a business owner and as a person.
At the end of the day, every setback, mistake, and challenge has taught me something valuable. Those lessons have helped shape the business I have today and continue to motivate me to keep growing.
