Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Martin.
Hi Jordan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Kalamazoo, MI and moved to Evanston, IL when I was around 2 years old. My passion for radio started very early. In middle school, I was a Girl Scout, and my troop leader, Deana Durry, took us to visit WGCI, the hottest urban radio station in Chicago at the time. We had the opportunity to introduce ourselves live on-air, and from that moment, I completely fell in love with radio. I became a mother at the tender age of 17, which motivated me to work even harder toward my dreams, but motherhood always came first.
Although I had been living in Atlanta since 2013, I made the difficult decision to move back home to Chicago during COVID. During that time, my father, who lived in Detroit, became terminally ill and eventually passed away. Shortly after his funeral, my mother, who lived in Chicago, also became ill and needed me to care for her. During one of the most challenging seasons of my life, I was delivering for DoorDash when I heard a commercial for Illinois Media School. Something about it immediately spoke to me, so I called and enrolled right away. I completed the Radio and Television Production programs in May 2021 and later completed the Digital Marketing program in October 2021. During my time there, I earned awards for Outstanding Radio Show and Outstanding Broadcaster, which confirmed that I was walking in my purpose and doing exactly what I was meant to do.
After completing school, I decided to move back to Atlanta, where I began my journey with N’Style Atlanta and Cox Media Group. With N’Style Atlanta, I recorded weekly Hot Topics segments and conducted celebrity interviews virtually. Today, I serve as a Media Correspondent, attending exclusive events, covering red carpets, and interviewing celebrities. We have also started our own reality show, N’Style Atlanta Uncut which airs on Fox Soul, YouTube, Hulu, Tubi, and Apple TV.
At Cox Media Group, I began working on the Promotions team. About six months later, I transitioned to working on the digital team for 95.5 WSB, which eventually led me to my next opportunity with KISS 104.1. At the time, Frank Ski and Nina Brown were the morning show hosts. As they passed my desk daily, I built relationships with them and consistently asked how I could help. That initiative eventually led me to become their phone screener, assist with social media management, and later serve as Associate Producer for their syndicated show.
In January 2024, I was promoted to Executive Producer of the morning show, now known as “Toni and Tony in the Morning.” My journey has been built on faith, consistency, resilience, and a willingness to create opportunities instead of waiting for them. Every challenge I’ve faced has helped shape the woman and media personality I am today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Getting into media has definitely not been a smooth road, but every challenge became a lesson and helped shape me into who I am today. I’ve experienced a lot of personal loss along the journey, including losing my father, friends, and other family members, all while trying to pursue my dreams and remain strong for the people around me.
I’ve also had to create opportunities for myself when doors weren’t always opened for me. In such a competitive industry, I learned early on that sometimes you have to build your own lane, make your presence known, and consistently prove yourself through hard work and determination.
Balancing my professional career with my personal life has been another challenge. Media can be demanding, fast-paced, and unpredictable, so learning how to manage my time while still being present for my family and myself has taken growth and discipline.
I also had to learn the word no. When I first started working in media, I was saying yes to EVERY opportunity because I was so eager to learn, grow and be involved. But it also burnt me out quickly where I had to learn to set boundaries and say no to some things.
Through it all, I’ve remained grounded in faith, resilience, and consistency. Every obstacle has taught me something valuable, and I truly believe those experiences prepared me for the opportunities I have today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I currently serve as the Executive Producer and an On-Air Personality for KISS 104.1’s “Toni & Tony in the Morning,” where I help produce daily content, create engaging conversations for listeners, manage behind-the-scenes operations, and contribute on-air commentary and entertainment news. In addition to radio, I’m also a Media Correspondent for N’Style Atlanta and a cast member on Fox Soul’s “N’Style Atlanta: Uncut,” where I cover red carpets, conduct celebrity interviews, attend exclusive events, and create digital content surrounding entertainment and culture.
I specialize in entertainment media, storytelling, celebrity interviews, digital content creation, hosting and connecting with audiences in an authentic way. I’m known for bringing energy, personality, relatability, and professionalism into every space I enter. Whether I’m on the radio, on a red carpet, hosting an event, or creating social content, my goal is always to make people feel engaged, informed, and connected.
One of the things I’m most proud of is building my career from the ground up while remaining authentic to who I am. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built, the opportunities I’ve created for myself, and being able to inspire others — especially women, mothers, and people who may feel like it’s too late to chase their dreams. I’m also incredibly proud of building my personal brand, “Jordan with the Juice,” which has allowed me to expand beyond traditional radio into digital media, television, interviews, event hosting, and entrepreneurship. I now have my own juice available for purchase at Smooth N Groove (and on their website) located inside of Phipps Plaza, which is another reminder that stepping out on faith can create opportunities far beyond what you originally imagined.
What sets me apart is my work ethic, resilience, and ability to genuinely connect with people. I understand the importance of relationships and consistency, and I’m never afraid to start from the bottom and work my way up. I’ve learned how to create opportunities instead of waiting for them, and I bring that mindset into everything I do. I believe people connect with authenticity, and I’ve always made it a priority to remain true to myself while growing in this industry.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is knowing that I manifested this life for myself. The 5th grader who walked into WGCI and said she would work in radio one day would be incredibly proud. Being able to wake up every day and live out my passion doesn’t feel like a job to me — it feels like purpose. When someone tells me I made them laugh during a difficult day, inspired them to chase their dreams, helped people connect through conversation, or simply made them feel seen and heard, those moments mean everything to me.
My family and being a mother also bring me a tremendous amount of joy. Becoming a mother at a young age taught me responsibility, resilience, and purpose very early in life, and it continues to motivate me every day to keep growing and setting an example. Having my mother’s support throughout this journey also means the world to me. She has always been one of my biggest cheerleaders, and seeing the pride and happiness on her face makes my heart smile.
Being able to introduce and promote my personal brand on a national platform has been a surreal experience. I’ve had opportunities to appear on morning news shows in Atlanta, New York, Houston, and Philadelphia.
When I look back at everything I’ve overcome and all the doors that have opened for me, I know every challenge has a purpose. That realization gives me gratitude, peace, and motivation to keep pushing forward.
