Today we’d like to introduce you to Kemi Peterside.
Hi Kemi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has been anything but traditional, but it’s made me who I am today. I’m currently an accelerated nursing student in Atlanta and also a mom, wife, and content creator. I decided to go back to school at 29, which was a huge leap, but one that felt right. Balancing school, family life, and personal growth has taught me a lot about resilience and staying focused on my goals.
When I started sharing my journey online, it was mostly to document my progress and connect with others. Over time, it grew into a community where I talk about the ups and downs of nursing school, everyday life, and little moments in between. My goal has always been to keep it real and show that it’s never too late to chase something new.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road but that’s what’s made the journey meaningful. Going back to school later in life, especially in such an intense program, came with its own set of challenges. I’ve had to balance being a full-time student with being a mom and a wife, and there were moments when I questioned if I could really do it all.
There’s been a lot of sacrifice, missing family moments, staying up late to study, and learning how to keep going even when I’m mentally and physically drained.
But every struggle has taught me something. It’s made me more disciplined, more intentional with my time, and more confident in my ability to overcome hard things. I’ve learned to give myself grace, celebrate small wins, and trust the process even when it feels overwhelming.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work is really a blend of healthcare and content creation. I’m currently a nursing student in an accelerated BSN program, and I also work as a nurse extern. On top of that, I create content around my journey sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
I focus on making nursing school feel a little more relatable and less isolating. Whether it’s study tips or just an honest “day in the life,” I try to keep it real. I also weave in lifestyle and beauty content, because I believe you can be passionate about both your profession and your personal interests.
What I’m most proud of is building a community that feels safe, encouraging, and honest. I get messages from people who say my content helped them decide to go back to school, or that they felt seen after watching one of my videos and that means everything to me.
What sets me apart is that I don’t pretend to have it all figured out. I don’t try to be perfect, I just try to be real. And I think that authenticity is what really connects with people.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My biggest piece of advice for finding a mentor or networking is to lead with curiosity and authenticity. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people you admire whether that’s classmates, instructors, nurses on the floor, or even creators you follow online. A genuine message asking for advice or insight can go a long way. People are usually more willing to help than we think.
What’s worked well for me is building relationships organically. I didn’t go into nursing school or content creation with a long list of connections I just showed up as myself. I asked questions during clinicals, connected with classmates who had different strengths, and engaged with people who inspired me online. Over time, those small conversations turned into meaningful support systems.
