Today we’d like to introduce you to Koya Webb.
Hi Koya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a small town girl from Humboldt, Tennessee and I used to believe high performance meant pushing harder. That if I worked hard enough, sacrificed enough and proved myself enough, I could achieve anything. But pressure doesn’t reveal leadership capacity. It reveals nervous system capacity. At the height of my track and field career, a devastating back injury nearly ended everything. I had a full scholarship.
My eyes were set on the Olympics.
And almost overnight, the identity I had built as an elite athlete was stripped away.
I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t sleep. I no longer recognized myself outside of track. For the first time in my life, I wasn’t fighting to win.
I was fighting to survive. And when I tried to come back too early, before I had truly healed, I injured myself even more.
That’s when I realized: I couldn’t force my way through healing. I had to regulate before I could rebuild.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Breath by breath, I started reconnecting to myself through mindful movement, nervous system regulation and daily rituals that helped me feel safe in my body again.
Even on the hardest days, I knew one thing:
I could breathe. And that changed everything.
Because I realized I had spent so much of my life trying to make everyone else proud, my coaches, my parents, my community, that I had forgotten how to truly care for myself.
That was the beginning of “Get Loved Up.”
It’s not just a slogan. It’s a daily ritual.
A decision to prioritize my wellbeing instead of abandoning myself in the pursuit of achievement. Through nervous system regulation, self reflection and holistic wellbeing practices, I was able to heal physically, mentally and emotionally.
And eventually, I returned stronger than before, ranking 13th in the nation in the heptathlon. But the greatest transformation wasn’t athletic. It was internal.
I realized sustainable success is not built through burnout. The most effective leaders, teams and high performers are not the least stressed. They’re the most regulated.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Understanding I needed to love myself first and most led me to build the Get Loved Up community, where I’ve now supported thousands of people around the world in creating healthier, more sustainable lives from the inside out. Today, my work is centered around one core truth:
Embodied leadership means staying clear, grounded and connected to yourself….even under pressure. Because burnout is not a badge of honor. And healing is not weakness.
When you prioritize your wellbeing, you increase your clarity, resilience and capacity to lead powerfully in every area of your life.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about priorities.
When you love yourself first and most, you lead better. You serve better. And you create greater impact in the world.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is helping people remember that their wellbeing is not separate from their success.
For so long, I believed that achievement required sacrifice. I pushed through exhaustion, ignored what my body was telling me, and measured my worth by how much I could accomplish. What I discovered is that sustainable success doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from being deeply connected to yourself.
Today, what matters most is creating spaces where people can slow down long enough to listen to their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and reconnect with what truly matters. Whether I’m speaking, teaching Breath Healing, leading retreats, or writing books, my goal is the same: to help people embody their highest selves and lead from a place of clarity, presence, and wholeness.
I care deeply about helping people understand that wellbeing is not a luxury. It’s the foundation for everything we want to create in our lives, relationships, businesses, and communities.
If my work can help someone trust themselves more, choose themselves more often, and create a life that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside, then I know I’m living my purpose.
