Today we’d like to introduce you to Latosha Moore.
Hi Latosha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in the shadows, doing what other people wanted me to do. I didn’t understand that it was okay to feel, think for yourself, or simply live for yourself.
My life started young and fast. I was learning to be a mother and a woman at the same time.
Growing up in a church home, we went to church nearly every day for something. Everything was frowned upon—pretty much considered a sin. So, I wanted to be the “good girl.” I followed the rules and believed that if I made good decisions, everything would be okay.
I was wrong.
Staying at home became easy. My parents bought my clothes, and I wore what they bought. That meant going to school and getting picked on and bullied. Eventually, that led to skipping classes, fighting, and being suspended.
I started believing what the kids said about me. I allowed their opinions to control much of my young adult life. I convinced myself that what people thought of me had to be true.
So I found myself in the shadows—my safe space.
But in the dark, I found something unexpected.
I learned to become my own best friend. I learned how to love myself instead of hating myself just to satisfy someone else.
My children brought me out of hiding.
They are my inspiration. They are my biggest supporters, and I am their number one fan.
Without them, there is no me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I think of obstacles, I think about the relay races we used to run in school. Obstacles weren’t meant to stop you—they were meant to test you and push you forward.
When you’re faced with obstacles, use that moment to think about accomplishing or investing in something you never thought about before.
Life can change quickly.
It’s like working a job and getting fired. It hurts—especially when that job is your only source of income. The first thing most people do is start looking for another job. But when do you stop and ask yourself, What more can I add to myself?
The last job I had fired me, and I felt like I had already reached rock bottom.
But in that moment, I made a decision.
I wanted more. I deserved more. My children deserved more.
I’ve always believed in the acronym P.U.S.H.—Pray Until Something Happens.
So I enrolled in the GED Program at Atlanta Technical College. Within three years, I earned two degrees: Certified Payroll Accounting and Human Resources Specialist.
Since then, I’ve worked jobs that allowed me to apply those degrees, all while building toward my bigger goal—one day owning my own successful business.
Obstacles can become opportunities.
Allow them to challenge you to become better.
Are all roads smooth? No.
Some roads are dirt. Some are gravel. Some have rocks and potholes.
But you don’t stop in the middle of the road.
You keep going.
Construction workers rebuild roads every day, and life works the same way. Sometimes obstacles are simply opportunities to reconstruct yourself.
I may not be where I want to be in life yet, but I am working continuously—day and night—to get there.
Your obstacles are distractions only if you allow them to stop you.
Let them run their course.
Then keep going.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
After working for different multifamily management companies, I began to envision owning my own management company one day.
To do that, I knew I needed to understand more than operations—I needed to know how to properly manage the financial side of business. That realization pushed me to continue my education.
Recently, I had the opportunity to work for Liberty Tax, which gave me hands-on experience to apply my Accounting education and better understand tax language and laws. Since I was enrolled during COVID and much of my learning became self-taught, that experience helped connect education with real-world application.
That journey eventually led me back to completing the Financial Analysis section of my business plan and continuing to build toward my long-term goals.
Today, I work at a dealership, which still allows me to utilize the skills and education I’ve gained along the way.
What continues to drive me is my willingness to learn, grow, and become a better individual—not only for myself, but for those around me.
Most importantly, I want to set an example for my children. I want them to know their mother showed up, stayed present, and never gave up.
I take pride in maintaining balance between my work and personal life.
People who know me personally will often tell you that the Tosha you see online is not the same Tosha you experience in person—and that’s because social media only captures moments, not the whole person.
Going viral on social media was never on my bucket list. But as my influence and online presence continue to grow, I’ve started to see it differently.
I now view it as a portal to my purpose—
To be a part of the change this world needs.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Anything worth having is worth waiting for.
You are worth the wait.
When you’re doing it by yourself, expect it to take a little longer. But do not give up, and do not get discouraged, because it can happen.
You just have to P.U.S.H.—Pray Until Something Happens.
Before I close, I want to take this time to thank VoyageATL Magazine for this opportunity (hint, hint).
Sending a major shoutout to my Top Five: Dayshaun, Davion, Drevon, Unique, and Unitee. Thank you for being my inspiration, my motivation, and part of the reason I continue to keep going.
A special thank you to my mother—for her love, support, and for helping shape the woman I continue becoming.
To all my followers, subscribers, and supporters across every platform—thank you for every like, share, comment, prayer, word of encouragement, and every moment you believed in me.
And lastly, to my inner circle—the ones who remind me every day, “Tosha, you got this.”
I love and appreciate each and every one of you.
This journey is still being written, and I’m excited to see where the road leads next.
XOXO
