Today we’d like to introduce you to Naima Greenwood.
Hi Naima, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey has always been guided by a passion for purpose-driven leadership and a commitment to creating spaces where people—and organizations—can thrive. I began my professional path studying business and marketing at Florida A&M University, followed by an Executive MBA from Georgia Tech, where I sharpened my strategic thinking and global business acumen.
Early in my career, I built a strong foundation in corporate operations and sales, delivering consistent results while gaining firsthand insight into how high-performing teams and efficient systems fuel growth. But I knew I was meant to do more than meet quotas—I wanted to help organizations evolve from the inside out.
That desire led me into the talent and DEI space, where I ultimately served as President & COO of Yardstick Management. There, I led the company through transformative growth—scaling operations, building world-class consulting teams, and launching inclusive talent strategies for clients such as Amazon, Netflix, Google, and many more across various industries . One of the most defining moments of my career was leading Yardstick to a successful multimillion-dollar acquisition, a milestone that underscored our impact and sustainability as a purpose-driven firm.
Today, I remain focused on opportunities at the intersection of strategy, operations, and talent—driving initiatives that optimize recruiting functions, elevate people strategies, and create lasting organizational change. Whether I’m advising senior leaders, redesigning business processes, or implementing global talent solutions, my goal is always the same: to build with intention, lead with integrity, and leave every organization stronger than I found it.
I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished—but even more inspired by what’s possible next.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were moments I questioned everything—especially as I stepped into executive leadership and took on the weight of scaling a company while driving cultural change. I’ve had to make tough calls, sit in rooms where my presence was the exception, and carry the pressure of perfection that often falls on women of color in leadership.
The stress, the setbacks, the sacrifices—they were real. But so was the growth. I built resilience I didn’t know I had. I found community. I learned to trust my instincts and advocate not only for myself but for others coming up behind me. The struggles shaped me into a more intentional, grounded, and effective leader.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a strategic HR and operations leader with deep experience transforming how organizations attract, develop, and retain talent.
Over the past decade, I’ve worked at the intersection of people, culture, and business strategy—advising C-suite leaders, driving large-scale talent programs, and building inclusive systems that support employee engagement and organizational performance.
I specialize in HR transformation, including recruitment operations, performance management, post-merger integration, and leadership development. At Yardstick Management, I served as President & COO, where I led the firm through a multimillion-dollar acquisition while designing scalable HR processes and supporting senior leaders in navigating cultural and operational change.
I’ve also advised global organizations on inclusive talent acquisition, partnering with TA, L&D, and HR teams to integrate equity and belonging into hiring, onboarding, and retention strategies. I’ve led initiatives such as launching employee resource groups, building performance frameworks, coaching managers, and conducting cultural audits—all with the goal of creating human-centered workplaces where people and business thrive together.
What sets me apart is the ability to move between strategy and execution—to zoom out and architect HR and talent systems that work, while also engaging with people on the ground to drive buy-in and behavior change. I bring a business mindset to HR, and an inclusive lens to business.
I’m most proud of the cultures I’ve helped build, the teams I’ve had the privilege to lead, and the trust I’ve earned as a partner to executives leading through change.
What matters most to you?
As a mother and wife, my family is my foundation. They ground my values and inspire my commitment to building a world where opportunity, equity, and purpose are not reserved for a few—but accessible to all.
Professionally, I’ve devoted my career to transforming workplaces into environments where people and performance thrive together. Whether driving talent strategy, leading cultural transformation, or scaling operations, I lead with empathy, clarity, and a deep belief in people-first systems.
That same passion extends into my community. I serve as an Advisory Board Member for the Villages of Carver YMCA and the College of Business and Information Science (CBIS) at Tuskegee University, where I support youth development, leadership education, and community empowerment. This service keeps me connected to the next generation—and reminds me that leadership doesn’t stop at the office door.
Ultimately, what matters most to me is impact. Impact that begins at home, extends through my work, and ripples outward into the communities I serve.
