Daily Inspiration: Meet Nicole Pettway

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Pettway.

Hi Nicole, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a licensed nail technician and esthetician since 2013. I began my career in Florida but relocated and began servicing the Metro Atlanta area in 2015. I’ve built a brand and following by sharing my passion for healthy nail care and creative artwork. I continuously seek education by way of private classes with industry experts and brands that I favor to ensure that I continue to improve my skills and stay up to date on current trends and products. In 2023 I completed a program to become a licensed instructor as I find that I’m also passionate about teaching others. I find joy in helping aspiring nail technicians develop their skills and understand the “why” behind the way we do things. While nails are my primary service and specialty, as an esthetician I also offer body waxing and brow enhancement services such as brow tinting and henna. Most recently I’ve trained to become a microshading artist and have found joy in that industry as well!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly hasn’t always been smooth, but I believe the challenges I’ve faced have made me appreciate what I’ve built even more. One of the biggest challenges in the beginning was building a clientele in a new city. Gaining the trust and confidence of a new community took time and consistency to keep people coming back. Now the challenges that I face are similar but different. I’ve recently relocated to a new area so while I’m gaining the confidence of another new community this time the consistency needed is in relation to social media. Posting regular, engaging content and having an online presence is what’s needed nowadays as everyone uses AI search engines for the best in their area. If you aren’t consistently making your presence known you won’t be among the first providers suggested.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in healthy nail care, precise manicuring techniques, creative hand-painted nail art and creating an experience that my clients remember. I encourage my clients to send me inspiration photos from artwork, clothing, decor, you know any non-traditional nail art inspiration so that I can create more unique works of art for them! I’m most proud of the trust that my clients have in my ability to bring their visions to life without damaging their natural nails. What sets me apart from others is the importance I place on maintaining natural nail health, even if that means refusing service until the nails are in a healthy enough state to proceed.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’ve always been very artistic! I was very into drawing, painting, nail art, bracelet making, a little bit of everything really. I was a funny kid, I liked to do silly voices, and impersonations. I cheered, tried a lot of different sports but nothing really had my heart like art of any kind!
