Today we’d like to introduce you to Syntoria Bryant.
Hi Syntoria, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey began at the intersection of creativity, discipline, and a deep desire to build something of my own. I officially launched NailzbyTori® in 2013, but the foundation was laid long before that—through my love for art, self-expression, and structure. I’m a licensed nail professional and hold a bachelor’s degree in business management from Valdosta State University, which allowed me to approach creativity with an entrepreneurial mindset from the very beginning.
What started as a passion for nail artistry quickly evolved into a business once I realized how powerful the experience behind the service could be. I wasn’t just doing nails—I was creating moments of confidence, calm, and self-care for women who were juggling demanding careers, families, and leadership roles. That realization shifted everything. I became intentional about building NailzbyTori® as a luxury brand centered on professionalism, wellness, and elevated design—not trends alone.
Over the years, I’ve grown from a solo service provider into a multi-brand founder. In addition to NailzbyTori®, I founded and created Whipped Serenity Body & Candle Co.™, which extends the same philosophy of intentional self-care into body care and sensory experiences. My work now spans services, products, education, and community-building, all rooted in helping women feel aligned, confident, and well-resourced.
Today, I see myself not only as a nail artist, but as a creative entrepreneur and strategist. Every phase of my journey—learning the craft, refining my systems, rebranding, and expanding—has been about honoring both the artistry and the business. I’m proud that what started as a skill has grown into an ecosystem, and I’m even more excited about where it’s headed next.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most entrepreneurial journeys, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been plenty of twists, growing pains, and moments that tested both my resilience and my belief in myself. I’ve experienced long nights and early mornings, often pouring everything I had into the business while still navigating life’s personal challenges—including working through periods of grief without the option to simply pause.
One of the biggest struggles was learning how to balance work and life, especially in an industry where creativity and availability are constantly demanded. For a long time, my business required so much of me that I had to intentionally relearn how to rest without guilt.
Confidence was another major hurdle. Even though I was skilled, it took time for me to truly believe—without hesitation—that I was a dope nail artist and that my work deserved to be seen, respected, and paid for accordingly. That confidence didn’t come overnight; it was built through consistency, experience, and trusting my own creative voice.
I also had to keep pace with an ever-evolving industry—new trends, techniques, and products are constantly emerging, and staying current while maintaining quality requires discipline and adaptability. Most importantly, I’ve had to learn how to remain authentic while still operating with professionalism. Finding that balance—being true to who I am while meeting high standards—has been one of the most meaningful lessons of the journey.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the core of my work is creating custom, intentional nail experiences—especially for everyday business professionals who want to express themselves without compromising polish or professionalism. I specialize in elevated nail art that’s designed to feel personal. No two people wear the same look the same way, so every set I create is approached with individuality in mind. Even when I’m recreating a design, I blend artistic concepts, textures, and details in a way that makes it uniquely tailored to the person wearing it.
I’m most known for my specialty in nail art and my ability to translate ideas, moods, and inspiration into wearable designs. I love pulling from different artistic influences—fashion, abstract art, structure, and minimalism—and merging them into cohesive, thoughtful looks that feel both expressive and refined.
What I’m most proud of is my evolution—not just in skill, but in impact. Over time, my work has grown beyond aesthetics into something much deeper. I’ve built a space where my clients feel safe being themselves, where creativity and individuality are welcomed, especially in a world that often places limits on self-expression. Many of my clients operate in environments where they’re expected to fit a certain mold, and I take pride in giving them a moment—through their nails—to reclaim their authenticity.
What truly sets me apart is that I don’t just provide a service; I curate an experience. My work is rooted in intention, professionalism, and emotional awareness. It’s about helping people feel seen, confident, and empowered—one set at a time.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I don’t see risk as recklessness—I see it as intentional movement in the direction of growth. As a creative entrepreneur, risk is built into the work, but I approach it strategically, not impulsively. Every decision I make is measured against alignment, sustainability, and long-term vision.
One of the ongoing risks in my industry is investing in new products and techniques that are trend-driven. I’ve spent money on supplies that were popular in the moment but didn’t stand the test of time. While that can feel like a loss, those experiences taught me how to evaluate trends more critically and choose innovation that enhances my artistry instead of distracting from it.
A major turning point for me was transitioning from a full salon environment into a private salon suite—and then having to sustain that decision through a global pandemic. That required faith, adaptability, and confidence in my ability to maintain my clientele while redefining how I operate in times of adversity. It was risky, but it also gave me autonomy, clarity, and control over my brand in ways I hadn’t experienced before.
Creatively, risk shows up every time I introduce an artistic concept that may not immediately resonate with a client. Pushing creative boundaries means accepting that not every idea will be embraced—and being okay with that. But those risks are what sharpen my voice as an artist and attract clients who truly align with my work.
Even showing up online has required a level of vulnerability. Choosing to share more authentic, real content instead of always presenting a perfectly polished image is a risk in itself. You never know who’s watching or how you’ll be perceived, but I’ve learned that authenticity builds deeper trust and stronger connections than perfection ever could.
For me, risk isn’t about gambling—it’s about trusting my preparation, honoring my intuition, and being willing to evolve. Every meaningful step forward in my business has come from a moment where comfort had to be replaced with courage. It is because of this evolved ideology that I am elated to see what the future holds on this successful journey of entrepreneurship!
