Daily Inspiration: Meet Tamika Renee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamika Renee.

Hi Tamika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Where to begin… over the past couple of years there has been the gift of growth.
I’ll focus on what’s new.
As I rebrand my podcast, I have been focusing on different ways I can promote my book while at the same time building community.
One of the ways I did this was partnering and participating in adult book fairs. Not only did these book fairs allow me to network and get book sales, it allowed me to build community with other authors, bookstore owners, and the like. It allowed us to exchange experiences which provided insight and inspiration.
Another way I achieved community was putting together and hosting my own debut event, named- “A Literary Soiree”.
“A Literary Soiree” highlighted independent authors, a local wine bar where my event was held, wines that were served.
It provided exposure where that may be a challenge for a new author, especially one who is independent without the help of a publishing company.
With the ambience of the event set with jazz, vibey music, my event attracted writers, music lovers, wine lovers etc.

I am currently planning another session.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’d say one of the challenges I experienced was finding a location that has the energy, look and feel of what I was going for. I kept in mind convenience of anyone who may attend, my guest author and of course myself.
Another thing that was tedious, more than a challenge, was prepping all of the goody bags for my guests to bring home.
Otherwise the planning was smooth. I had help from my great team of friends.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Even though I had a lot of professional experiences and am also an independent consultant, being a creative allows me to tap into another side of me for ideas.
I will say that professionalism is somewhat merging into my creative ventures.
As an independent consultant I specialize in virtual administrative assistance.

I have to say I am most proud of my experiences in both “worlds” and being able to apply my professional skills towards something I am building.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Work towards whatever you desire, whatever you desire there is an abundance.
It’s ok to be a professional and creative, both help you finetune your social/people skills.

As I rebrand my podcast and am working on my next event, I am open to clients for my independent consultant business.
