Daily Inspiration: Meet Tristan Blake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tristan Blake.

Hi Tristan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into Fashion began as a child, inspired by my grandmother, who was a seamstress, and my uncle, who worked as a custom designer. Watching their creativity and craftsmanship firsthand sparked my love for fashion and design, which officially involved into Tristan Blake collection, a luxury women’s wear brand, specializing in bespoke couture, and ready to wear.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of dressing, notable clients including Tina knows comma Teyana Taylor, Winnie, Harlow, Usher and Lala Anthony, while also seeing my work featured in publications, such as Vogue, W magazine, Glamour, Elle, Marie Claire, and Harper’s Bazaar.
Today, my focus remains the same… creating designs that make women feel confident, powerful, and unforgettable while continuing to grow the Tristan Blake collection Brand.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth ride. Building a fashion brand from the ground up, comes with its share of challenges, from securing clients and funding projects. it’s balance and the creative and business size of the industry. There were moments that required long hours, personal sacrifice, and a great deal of faith in division.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that talent alone isn’t enough. Success requires consistency of adaptability and the willingness to keep moving forward even when things don’t go as planned.

Adding to that another challenge has been evolving and rebranding myself, both as a designer and a business owner. As you grow, your vision, goals, and creative direction, naturally change, and and figuring out what the new version of yourself or your brand looks like can be challenging itself. I’ve learned that grow requires confidence, pivoting and trusting the process even when not everyone understands a shift right away. Every challenge has helped shaped me into a strong designer, entrepreneur and creative.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the founder and designer behind simply collection, a luxury women’s wear brand specializing in and bespoke couture, and ready to wear.My work is known for attention to fit, structure, craftsmanship, and creating pieces that make women feel confident, powerful, and seen.

What are most proud of is building a brand that has allowed me to work with incredible clients and contribute to project ranger from red carpet moments to editorial features and tour productions. I’ve also had the privilege of being a contestant on Carnival Catwalk, the first design competition of its kind filmed in Trinidad and Tobago, where I advanced to the final four. The show later premiere to a global audience and is available on Peacock.

What sets my path apart is my ability to blend Couture craftsmanship with storytelling, creating garments that are not only beautiful, but also meaningful to the person wearing them.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I believe we’ll continue to see a greater shift towards individuality, intentional purchasing and customization. Consumers are becoming more conscious about what they invest in and are looking for pieces of that feel more personal rather than mass produced.

I also see technology continued to influence the industry, but I believe craftsmanship, quality and storyteller will remain the heart of the luxury fashion. While trends will always come and go, I think the brands that create meaningful connections and offer. A unique experience will be the ones that continue to thrive.
